Sunday, September 18, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert 1 Kings 19:15-16 - Elijah was told to anoint Elisha to take his place 1 Kings 19:19-21 - The mantle is the part of a rob e that covers the head. A head covering is a symbol of authority. Elisha knew that he must follow Elijah. See 1 Corinthians 11 2 Kings 2:1-25 - The mantle (authority) of Elijah was given to Elisha. Was Elisha worshiping Elijah or was he worshiping God? Elisha wanted the Spirit of Elijah upon him in a double portion. He saw Elijah's fire for God and wanted a double portion. The sons of the prophets started worshiping Elijah (they wanted the man not God) and they took three days to search for him. 1 Kings 18:19-19:18 - God worked many miracles through Elijah and Elisha wanted a double portion of what Elijah had.
