Don't Be Naked! - The Shield of Faith

The Whole Armor of God This Week: The Shield of Faith Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 7, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What is the Shield of Faith for? The shield is the one part of a soldier's gear that is used for defense. It allows them at times to be still and hide their whole body behind it. Then, when the arrows stop flying, they can get up and be encouraged to charge ahead toward the enemy with boldness. 1 John 5:4-5 Unless you're born of God (born again) you will not overcome the world. He who overcomes the world believes in faith that Jesus is the son of God. If you drop the shield, these things can become big questions in your mind: Am I really saved? Did I lose my salvation? Is Jesus really  the Son of God? Is Jesus the only  way? If we don't have the shield of faith, w...

Don't Be Naked!

The Whole Armor of God This Week: The Helmet Sunday, September 23, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert What is Clothing? Genesis 3:21-22 God clothed Adam and Eve because they sinned. They tried to clothe themselves with leaves, but God had to shed blood for them to be clothed. This was natural/physical clothing. 1 Corinthians 3:1-2 This is a spiritual birth... babes in Christ must be clothed in the Word, Jesus. 1 Peter 2:1-3 Babes in Christ want and desire the Word to grow by. If you're not drinking it, how will you grow? We need to be clothed with the sincere milk of the Word. 2 Corinthians 5:1-4 We want His spiritual clothing now on this earth. Be clothed with the heavenly Word, Spirit, etc. and don't be naked! What is the Wardrobe that He has given us?  Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God! Purpose: That we may be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. God saved us from sin but that doesn't mean that we still can...

Can We Lose Our Salvation?

Sunday, July 17, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert Is it possible to be born again and then somehow lose your salvation? What does God say about the security of the believer? Matthew 13:18-23  -  The Parable of the Seeds... The first three seeds were never born again... they were unfruitful and didn't last... they had good works but no real fruit. The las see is the only one who was fruitful and thereby born again. (see also Mark 4 and Luke 8) Luke 3:7-8  -  Don't show one time repentance... show continual repentance in your life... show your intimate relationship with Jesus. John 11:24-26  -  If you can lose your salvation why does Jesus say that those who believe will never die? If you lose your salvation it means that you could die. John 4:11-14  -  Those who drink of Jesus will never thirst again but shall "be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life". John 10:24-31  -  Jesus gives eternal life and you can never be pluc...

Will You Follow the Congregation or Jesus?

Sunday, July 3, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert Today's service focused on two separate topics, however had similar results. The first topic dealt with difference between "professing" Jesus as Lord vs. having a personal relationship with Jesus. And the second topic was about the leaders in the congregation deciding whether to choose God's Word in faith or following the "majority rules". Having a Relationship with God Luke 6:46  -  Why do you profess Jesus' name as Lord?  Why do you call Him your Saviour?  Why do you call Him Holy?  Why do you call Him God?  This verse in Luke asks us to "examine" ourselves.  Specifically, looking at our heart and seeing how our life has changed since "professing" Jesus as Lord.  Jesus asked, "Why do you call me Master if you won't do what I command you?  Do you even seek His commandments?  Are you trusting what others say His commandments are for your life or are you hungering and thirsting for H...

"Good Works Salvation"

Sunday, June 12, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert Begin by reading James 2 and then we will discuss if out works are good enough to get to heaven. The Rich Young Ruler Matthew 19:16-26  -  The young rich man asked "what good thing [work] shall I do ?"; he wanted to know how to go to heaven; Jesus gave all the commandments regarding how we should treat others and the young rich man proclaimed that he had kept all these things... he'd done good to others (he was a "good person"). But Jesus told him that to be perfect (meaning complete) he needed to "come and follow me [Jesus] "... God works aren't enough; the young man was so sorrowful when he walked away because he had just rejected the Holy Ghost; it is hard for a rich man to enter heaven... we are all rich; It is impossible for a rich man to enter heaven based on his own "good works" but it is possible to enter heaven with God Mark 10:17-21  -  The young rich man ran and kneeled before Jesus...

Are You Ready for When Jesus Comes Back?

Sunday, March 20, 2011 Led by Dennis Jeffries One of these days Jesus will come back. Are you ready? Have you done all the work that God has asked you to do in order to warn your family, friends, neighbors, etc. that Jesus is coming and judgment is soon?   Matthew 24:29-31,40-41  -  the resurrection of God's saints and the lost being left behind *** Would you be able to sleep tonight of you knew Jesus was coming back tomorrow and your husband/wife or children were lost and headed to hell? *** *** Have you done everything you can to warn those around you that Jesus is coming back soon? *** Matthew 25:1-13  -  they that were ready went with Jesus and then the door was shut... it was too late for those who didn't have Jesus *** When the Lord comes, you will either be ready or not... it's over! *** Luke 16:19-31  -  when your death comes of Jesus comes back it's over... there is no more opportunities to be saved 2 Thessalonians 1:6-11  -  ...

God Knows Those Who Are His

Sunday, February 13, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" 2 Corinthians 13:5 Do you have complete assurance of your salvation? Are you afraid that you might have "lost your salvation"? In the book of 1 John, John tells us how we may know if we have eternal life. It is written for the believer that he may have assurance and for the unbeliever, who thinks he is saved, that he may know according to his fruits if he really is. Please make sure that you go back and read the entire book of 1 John as there are many more signs of a true believer that we did not discuss. 2 Timothy 2:15-19  -   "rightly dividing the word of truth" means that you can wrongly divide the word of truth; if you study the word then God will reveal the truth; many will have an interpretation but there is only one truth; some will profane ...

A Prayer For America

Sunday, February 6, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert This is "Super Bowl Sunday". Some could reasonably say that today is a "religious holiday". People will travel to great distances to get to a football stadium but have no desire to get in the fellowship of believers. Some will paint their bodies and wear their "lucky" clothing instead of put on the sackcloth and ashes of humility before God. Our country has left it's "First Love", Jesus. Ezra 1:1-4  -  God laid it upon king Cyrus's heart to command His people to build a house for the Lord God and everyone was to help whether by service or by giving money Ezra 3:10-13  -  the ancient men wept when they had seen the foundation laid for the new house of God *** Today you will hear a great roar in a football stadium but it won't be like the roar that was heard when the foundation of the house of God was laid because the roar won't be for God. *** Ezra 6:16-22  -  the people made dedica...

Sacrifice

Sunday, December 5, 2010 Led by Dennis Jeffries Zephaniah 1:7-8  -  "bid his guests" = gave them an invitation to come to Jesus; "strange apparel" = spiritual, no blood of Jesus on them; good works *** What are examples of "good works"? *** Matthew 22:1-14  -  many receive the invitation but few are chosen; those who don't have a wedding garment will be cast to hell Isaiah 53:1-11  -  most pictures of Jesus show a very handsome and attractive man but scripture says differently; Jesus was our offering for sin   2 Peter 1:4-11  -  need to remember so we don't forget that we have been purged from the old man and how that happened   *** What can we sacrifice for Him? *** Hebrews 9:1-28  -  the tabernacle is now our body; High Priest is now Jesus Sacrifices we need to make for Him... Hebrews 13:15-16  -  sacrifice of praise to God continually (using Jesus' name); doing good and communicating are sacrifices that ...

The Gift of Jesus

Sunday, November 14, 2010 Led by Dennis Jeffries   What is the Gift of Jesus? Romans 6:23  -  the gift is eternal life; wages are what you earn or the price of something *** Where did death begin? See Genesis 2:17 *** *** To overcome the separation between Adam & Eve and God, a sacrifice had to be made, blood shed. ***  John 3:16  -  the gift is not perishing but having everlasting life Ephesians 2:8-9  -  salvation is by grace through grace, the gift of God How Do You Recieve the Gift?  John 3:14-19  -  the Son of Man was lifted up on the cross; you get the gift by believing *** What does it mean to believe? (See Romans 10:9-10) *** Romans 10:9-10  -  confess and believe with your heart and you shall be saved; with the heart you believe and with the mouth confession is made Acts 2:38  -  repent and be baptized and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost *** Study: Does Baptism save you?...

Those Who Saw Yet Didn't Believe

Sunday, October 31, 2010 Led by Dennis Jeffries Pharaoh: Exodus 5:1-2  -  Pharaoh was an atheist Exodus 7: 9-13, 20; 8: 6, 17, 24; 9: 3, 6, 10, 23; 10: 13-16, 21-23; 12: 29  -  Pharaoh saw the power of God through the twelve plagues/miracles yet he wouldn't believe. *** Read in between all the above verse to get the complete understanding of the whole story *** Nebuchadnezzar: Daniel 2: 46-47; 3:1, 6, 24-26, 29; 4: 8, 24, 27, 30-31, 34-37  -  Nebuchadnezzar worshiped Daniel instead of worshiping God; even after all the things that he saw through Daniel and his three friends, Nebuchadnezzar still didn't believe. *** Read in between all the above verses to get the complete understanding of the whole story *** Other Examples to Consider:    --  Judas Iscariot... even after spending so much time with Jesus in person he still wouldn't truly believe.    --  King Agrippa... even after hearing Paul's amazing testimony he sai...

God's being? *** John 10:27-30  -  we can't be plucked out of God's hand *** Based on 1 Peter 4:19 and John 10:27-30, can you lose your salvation? Can you find other scriptures on this subject to prove what you believe? *** Luke 23:46  -  Jesus commended his soul to God 2 Timothy 4:6-9  -  Paul had no doubt about what would be in store for him; he was ready *** Read about those who were "almost" ready for God...
