The Holy Spirit

Sunday, February 2, 2013 Led by Joel Fields Genesis: 1:1-2 The spirit moved upon the fa c e of th e waters... the first act of Cr eation. Genesis 2:7 God breathed into man the breath of life... the spirit Without the breath, man was just dust. There's no power or life until God brings the spirit. Ezekiel 7:1-10 The spirit took Ezekiel to a valley (a very low place), not the mountain top. The bones in the valley were dry. Symbolically, dead with no hope of life in them... complete hopelessness. God does the greatest works in an atmosphere of death and hopelessness, death have hold on God.  In the resurrection of His Son... death in the flesh and made alive in the spirit. The spiritually dead don't have ears to hear, unless it is God who speaks. God opens the graves and brings the dead back to life so that all will know that He is the Lord. "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be ...

The Rock and the Rod

Sunday, August 19, 2012 Led by Joel Fields Exodus 17:1-16 The Staff (rod) = The Cross "Staff/Rod" = branch.... Read 1 Peter 2:24 The Rock = Jesus "Rock" = the Rock of God... Read 1 Corinthians 10:4 We were at enmity with God until he showed us the Rock... Jesus. But then, just when greatness comes, then enters Satan (Amalek) to try to draw us away with fighting and battles. Amalek = Satan Moses = the Law of God Joshua = Jesus Jesus (Joshua) battles Satan (Amalek) and defeats him.  Colossians 2:14 A picture of what Moses did with the staff (rod). Jesus nailed it all to the cross... He triumphed over powers and principalities... disarming all evil and wickedness. Satan always comes to fight but Jesus is our antidote! As long as the cross is the focus (lifted up) the enemy can't prevail. But when the cross is lowered, Satan wins. Moses gets tired and drops his hands just like we tire of the daily battles. T...

Abide in Me: All in Jesus

Sunday, August 12, 2012 Led by Joel Fields John 15:1-5 Eternal life is knowing God, having an intimate personal relationship with Him. Jesus is the (there's only one)  true vine... this means that there are false vines. Matthew 15:12-14 If God didn't plant it, it will be thrown out. If the Word offends you then you need to examine your eternal salvation. To abide means to remain. As in a one time relationship you have in marriage. The branch isn't sweating and trying to bear fruit... it just does. No work involved... it just comes naturally. Psalm 91:1 & Matthew 6 Dwell in the secret place of God. John 17:22-23 When the Word is dwelling in your heart, you are one with God. Philippians 1:9-11 This is our prayer. Prayer Requests Del M.  -  housing Fields family  -  housing Ed G.  -  cancer; first treatment 9/5 Connie G.  -  dad health issues Joel F. Mom  -  conti...

Psalm 116

Sunday, June 17, 2012 Led by Joel Fields Psalm 116:1-19 Psalm 14:1-4  -  The most lacking thing in the world today is prayer. "Prayerless Prayer" is oratorical and that's it... might as well be speaking to the ceiling. That is the difference between "calling upon the name of the Lord" and just praying. To "call" someone is to formally call them by name. David didn't care for his body (even though he spent his life running from people who wanted to kill him), He cared for his soul to be delivered. First is GRACE (we were created in His image), second is RIGHTEOUSNESS (Jesus came), third is MERCY (He took our place for sin). Hebrews 11:6  -  Without faith it is impossible to please God. Those who diligently seek Him will be rewarded. The only way to pay God back for His mercy and grace is to take the cup of salvation and call on His name. Prayer Requests Ed G.  -  cancer decisions Ray W  -  home alone next few w...

Beware! False Preachers That Have Crept In

Sunday, May 13, 2012 Led by Joel Fields   2 Thessalonians 2:1-3  -  In the last days there will be (and is now) a falling away or departure from Biblical faith. Jude 3-4  -  The gospel is so holy and precious that it must be contended for and protected. 2 Peter 2:1  -  The word privily means to "come right along side of" meaning they are bringing damnable heresies in right alongside a little truth... very deceptive. The best lie always has a little bit of truth mixed in to it. Deuteronomy 13:1-3  -  The heretics may do miracles and many wonderful things but their doctrine is all wrong. These people are sent by God to see if you love Him with your heart and soul. Notice it says heart and soul, but not mind... loving God intellectually is not enough... we must love Him with all our heart and soul. 2 Peter 2:3  -  These deceitful ones make merchandise of you... Look at most TV preachers... all they want is yo...

Prayer, Faith, and Forgivness

Sunday, March 4, 2012 Led by Joel Fields Mark 11:13-26 vs. 13-14   -  Jesus was looking for fruit on the fig tree but all He found was fig leaves. The season was not yet come. Hosea 14:8  -  Our fruit is found only in the Father... we can only bear fruit because of Him and for His glory. John 15:8  -  The sign of a true disciple is one who bears much fruit. Herein is the Father glorified. When Adam and Eve sinned, they covered themselves in fig leaves... God didn't find any righteous fruit in them. We all go through seasons of drought and God has to bring the refreshing rain so that we will produce fruit again.   vs. 15-19 - Jesus cast out the men who had made His Father's house a den of thieves and perverted the temple of God.   When Jesus came to this temple all He saw was fig leaves... there was no fruit there so He cast them out... they were useless to Him. Everything on the outside looked good and holy, but inwardly t...
