Prayer, Faith, and Forgivness

Sunday, March 4, 2012
Led by Joel Fields
Mark 11:13-26
  • vs. 13-14  -  Jesus was looking for fruit on the fig tree but all He found was fig leaves. The season was not yet come.
    • Hosea 14:8  -  Our fruit is found only in the Father... we can only bear fruit because of Him and for His glory.
    • John 15:8  -  The sign of a true disciple is one who bears much fruit. Herein is the Father glorified.
    • When Adam and Eve sinned, they covered themselves in fig leaves... God didn't find any righteous fruit in them.
    • We all go through seasons of drought and God has to bring the refreshing rain so that we will produce fruit again.
  •  vs. 15-19 - Jesus cast out the men who had made His Father's house a den of thieves and perverted the temple of God.
    •  When Jesus came to this temple all He saw was fig leaves... there was no fruit there so He cast them out... they were useless to Him.
    • Everything on the outside looked good and holy, but inwardly they were fruitless. Just as the Pharisees looked holy on the outside but they were hypocrites.
    • When Jesus sees dead religion He get's irate and angry. He loves righteousness and life, but He hates wickedness and death.
    • A den is a hiding place. These men were in a place where they felt safe to practice sin. They've found a place where they are made to "feel good" about their sinful state.
    • The people wanted to destroy Jesus for speaking the truth. Satan always wants to destroy life and that is why whenever truth is spoken you will face trials and tribulations.
  • vs. 20-21  -  Spiritual drought should make our roots go deeper to find His living water.
  • vs. 22  -  Jesus said to "have faith in God". He didn't say to have faith in the works of God, but to simply have faith in who He is!
  • vs. 23
    • A mountain is unbelief and offense. Jesus says if we have faith, we can cast all this sin and unbelief into the sea.
      • *** Many times in scripture we can see where sin, wickedness, evil, etc. is cast into the sea. Read Exodus 10:19, 15:4, Jonah 1:12,15, 2:3, Micah 7:19, Mark 9:42, Revelation 18:21
  •  vs. 24
    • Jesus didn't say that we will get whatever we lust for if we pray and ask for it.
    • John 14:12-14  -  We will receive whatever we ask for if we ask according to what glorify God.
    • James 4:3  -  When we ask and receive not, it is because we have asked amiss in our own lust.
  • vs. 25-26
    • Prayer is choked out when we allow a root of bitterness and unforgiveness to grow in our heart.
    •  We are told to forgive, but this does not mean that the wrong doer is exempt from judgement and punishment for their sin.

Don't Be Naked! - Loins Girt with Truth

The Whole Armor of God This Week: Loins Girt with Truth Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What are the Loins Girt about with Truth for? The loins help you to stand. They give you support to stand. They help you to get up when you've fallen. John 8:31-32 The truth makes you free and you'll know His disciples because they continue in His Word. John 14:6 Jesus is the  way, the  truth, and the  life. He is NOT a  way, a  truth, or a  life. Hebrews 13:8-9 The truth of Jesus does not change. Don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines. The truth is being trodden down in our day and age. He did not leave us blind in the Word.  How much are we putting our trust in the Lord? We must put on the truth so we're not carried away with fa

Freaking out in Times of Peace

Sunday, June 24, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Encouragement from the Lord that He is our rock and fortress, He is our peace in the storm... so stop FREAKING OUT! :-) Psalm 3:1-8 The enemy is not necessarily people coming against him, but powers and principalities (spiritual warfare). The battle is often in the mind with doubt, depression, etc. This is why we are commanded not to be fearful of the one who destroys the body, but the one who destroys the soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28) David knew that God was his shield and strong tower, his protector. Matthew 8:23-27 In the midst of the storm, Jesus was sleeping in the bottom of the boat. Even when everyone else was freaking out, Jesus was at peace. Peace was right their in the ship with them, and they were freaking out! Jesus rebuked them saying, "Why are ye fearful, o ye of little faith?" Prayer Requests Fields Family  -  house to rent Joel F. mom & dad  -  mom going through 4 surgery in last

Is There Oil in Your Lamp?

Sunday, March 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Matthew 25:1-13 The lamp represents your heart. The oil represents the Holy Spirit. When the virgins heard the announcement that the bridegroom was come, they were excited. Unfortunately only five of them were prepared. For the five foolish virgins, their fire went out when nothing exciting was happening. Then, when the excitement came, they didn't have enough oil to get the fire started again.  The five wise virgins knew that they couldn't give the oil (Holy Spirit) to the other women. You can live your life however you want, like the foolish virgins did, and expect to get right with God at the end of your life after you've done everything you wanted first. It's too late at that point because the door was shut. Matthew 24:36-39 The last days will be like it was in the days of Noah. Evil imaginations in the heart of man was (and now is) rampant on earth. Genesis 7:1,16 God called Noah and his family int
