The word "keep" when it was written in the original language means to guard or preserve. In this study we looked at the different places with the word keep to get a greater understanding of the scriptures. 1 John 2:3-5  -  if you truly love God you want to stand up to defend him just as Peter did when the soldiers came to garden to take Jesus; "keep his commandments" means that you want to guard and protect His word. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" 2 Corinthians 13:5 Do you have complete assurance of your salvation? Are you afraid that you might have "lost your salvation"? In the book of 1 John, John tells us how we may know if we have eternal life. It is written for the believer that he may have assurance and for the unbeliever, who thinks he is saved, that he may know according to his fruits if he really is.
