Psalms 106:15

Sunday, October 30, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert " And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul." Psalm 106:15 We must be careful what we ask for!  God gave the children of Israel a king as they requested but sent leanness to their souls... their king didn't honor God, but disobeyed Him. (1 Samuel 15) God allowed Lot to have his desires of Sodom and Gomorrah, but it did not end well in that city... He sent leanness to Lot's soul. (2 Peter 2:7-8) The Prodigal Son was given all that he asked for but he had leanness in his soul. (Luke 15:11-32) The religious people chose Barabbas (a murder) over Jesus and leanness was sent to their souls. Even Pilates wife was vexed by the unjust treatment of Jesus. (Matthew 27:11-23) What will it gain us if we get the whole world but lose our soul or get leanness to our soul. (Matthew 16:26) What is the purpose or goal of our prayers? -  Is it to attain something physical? (car, house, job, care

Jesus... the Word of God

Sunday, October 23, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert Jesus' Name is "The Word of God" Revelation 19:13  -  read the whole chapter and see that Jesus is called the Word of God John 1:1  -  the Word (Jesus) was with God and is God John 1:14  -  the Word (Jesus) was made flesh and we beheld His glory as the only begotten of the Father 1 John 5:7  -  the Father, the Word (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost are one (a.k.a. the Trinity) NOTE: If you don't use the King James Version, you may not have this verse. Many versions either completely remove this verse, combine it with the next verse, or say "these three agree in one". Beware. Proverbs 30:5  -   every word of God (Jesus) is pure... Jesus is referred to as our unblemished lamb (purity) Luke 4:4  -  Man shall live by every word of God (Jesus)... with out Jesus have have no life. See 2 Timothy 3:16 Luke 8:19-21  -  Jesus' brethren are those who hear the word of God (Jesus) and do what it says. Rom

Segregation Still Exists

Sunday, October 16, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert Read Revelation 12:13, and 13:1-7.... We are in a literal time of war against our adversary, the Devil. He has been given the power to overcome the saints (the born again). We need to put on God's full armor and use God's word to defend ourselves from Satan's fiery darts. Every area of life is being attacked, from the weakest to the strongest... this includes our children. THE WAR IS ON!! John 3:61-40, 47-51  -  God first sent natural food to the children of Israel in the wilderness. This was that bread from heaven called manna. He then sent us spiritual food who is our Bread from heaven, Jesus. Just as we receive natural and spiritual food from heaven we must apply this to our family life. Consider the following: How often do you gather as a family around the supper table to enjoy a meal together? Do activities and schedules keep you from all sitting down at one place and at one time? Many families only sit at

Home Church or Church Building?

Sunday, October 9, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert The following question and answers was printed in our local newspaper on October 1, 2011. People at churches I’ve attended are hypocrites, so am I wrong to worship at home? The Rev. Justin Hoye, pastor at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kansas City: Wrong? No. Missing out? Yes. In each of the Synoptic Gospels (Mk 2:17; Mt 9:13; Luke 5:32), Jesus announces that he has come to call sinners to repentance, not the righteous. Those who are healthy have no need of a savior. Houses of worship provide a gathering for those who are sick, wounded and openly in need of forgiveness, nourishment and direction. In addition, a Catholic professes that in liturgical action we encounter Jesus Christ in a way we do not on our own. Our public worship — as the Body of Christ — is a participation in the words and actions of our eternal high priest, Jesus. Our Scriptures proclaim his life, and our words and actions make present his savi

Faith... The Eivdence of Things Not Seen

Sunday, October 2, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert "And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith." Luke 17:5 Hebrews 11:1 - 12:13... This week we discussed the meaning of faith and the cloud of witnesses before us who set an example of faith for us. We learned that it takes faith to know and understand that God is the creator of all. We also went through each of the people from Hebrews 11 and their acts of faith toward God: Abel   -  Cain brought his gift before God first, and then Abel brought his gift. Abel's gift was accepted because he gave with his heart in faith. Cain's gift was rejected because he was only trying to do good works without faith. Read Genesis 4:3-5 Enoch   -  By faith, Enoch was translated (or changed/transformed) because he pleased God. Without faith it is impossible to please God. To believe means to trust and follow (it isn't just words, but actions). If you truly believe in God you will diligently seek
