"What Have I Anymore to Do with Idols?"

Sunday, July 29, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert "The happiest live only for eternity." Hosea 14:1-9 Read Robert Murray M'Cheyne sermon " What Have I Anymore to Do with Idols? " Idols to cast away: self-righteousness, darling sins, unlawful attachments, ministers, earthly pleasures, fear of man   James 4:1-8 Wars and fightings come from lusts that war in our members (our mind, tongue, etc.) Ye have not because ye ask not; ye ask and receive not because ye ask according to your own lust (ye ask amiss). The Father sees this as adultery . You CANNOT love God and love the world because there is enmity between God and the world. Why are you going to all these other things when you have a relationship with Christ? Just as a husband would not seek another because he loves his wife. Things must be done decently and in order... submit to God, then resist the devil... you can't reverse these because God has to be the one to first give you the strength

Endure Hardness

Sunday, July 22, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert 2 Timothy 2:1-4, 15 Be strong  in the grace (true grace) in Christ Jesus. Endure hardness as a good soldier in Christ because as you share that grace, you'll be buffeted. We've been chosen to be soldiers to please Him who chose you. There is a right way and a wrong way to divide the truth; you must be in the Word to do it rightly.  Do I give equal time to Jesus as I give to the world? Did I give more time to God than Sodom and Gomorrah gave to God? THERE IS A FIGHT! SO, ENDURE AS A GOOD SOLDIER! 1 Peter 2:11 Abstain from fleshlly lussts, which war against our soul; we're pilgrims and strangers in this earth. Our conversation (lifestyle) is to be honest among the gentiles that God may be glorified in the nations   1 Peter 3:15 Be sanctified (set apart)   in your hearts and be ready always to give an answer to every person who asks a reason of the hope within you. If you love something above all else, eve

The Law & Grace

Sunday, July 15, 2012   Led by Eric Gintert Romans 6:1-23 vs. 1  -  A changed heart has no intentional desire for sin. They have a new relationship with sin... brokenness. Some get lost so far in grace, grace, grace that they forget about their sin and repentance. If you have no conviction when you see or do sin, you've become immune to sin and need to examine yourself. vs. 2  -  This doesn't mean we no longer sin. Peter sinned but wept bitterly. It's not about who I sinned against in the flesh but sinning against God. vs. 3-4  -  You'll have a newness of life; if this newness is from you, it'll wear off vs. 5-11  -  Being dead from sin yet alive in Christ 1 John 1:8-10  -  We make him a lair if we say we have no sin; He is faithful to cleanse us from all unrighteousness vs. 12  -  We are serving self by obeying the lusts of the flesh vs. 14-15  -  So it's okay to sin then, right? GOD FORBID!!!!!   Be thankful that God is not Hitler,

Godly Sorrow & Grace

Sunday, July 8, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Romans 5:9-12, 6:1-4 Godly Sorrow worketh repentence: Esau sought repentence carefully with tears... Hebrews 12:17 Judas sought repentance but it wasn't fruitful... Matthew 27:1-5 Peter wept bitterly and repented... Luke 21:61-62 David had godly sorrow when his eyes were opened to his sin... 2 Samuel 12 God's grace isn't something only present in the hour of salvation, but is abundant in your whole life. Where sin is abound, so is much more grace abound... Romans 5:20 The strange woman wants you to blame someone else so you are justified in yourself. But God justifies us by grace. (Proverbs 7) Grace reigns by righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ. We can't use grace as an excuse. Why would one who is dead to sin want to live any longer in sin? They wouldn't because their heart is changed. Prayer Request Penny W.  -   Traveling Mon-Sat; strength Joel F. mom  -  in hospital Pete, Angie

Glory in Tribulations

Sunday, July 1, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Romans 5:1-9 Many will justify themselves by their works (see Matthew 7:21-23) but true justification is through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). It takes faith to have grace. Some people say they believe but get offensive whenever someone wants to pray or talk about God. Do you glory in tribulations? (Acts 16) We spend so much time worrying about what we don't know when we should be giving our trials up to God.  God teaches patience through tribulation. Patience gives us experience: We should have the patience when tribulation comes to know that God has cared for us before and will do it again (experience). Experience gives us hope, a certainty that God is the hope... the provider, protector, strong tower, strength, etc. Hope gives boldness ( makes not ashamed) so even when you stand before God on judgment day, you'll not be ashamed, He won't let us down or cause us to be ashamed. The love of God is shed in our hearts
