Don't Be Naked! - The Sword

The Whole Armor of God This Week: The Sword Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 21, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What is the Sword of the Spirit for? The sword is for defense and offense. It is used to defend against the enemy as well as to afflict and pierce the enemy. The sword of the spirit is the Word of  God... not "the Holy Bible" but the literal Word of God. We don't let the true Word of God in many church buildings. We water it down so that it won't hurt anyone's feelings. John 14:22-26 Those who love Jesus keep His words. This is God's Word... truth. Jesus promised that when He's not physically with us, He will send the Sword to us. When the sword is used, the enemy doesn't have a chance. "For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your advers...

Meditating on God

Sunday, April 22, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert What is meditation? Is it reflecting on the past... what you've done whether good or bad? No, this is the worldly definition of meditation. Biblical meditation is God centered (not self centered) in God's Word.  It's important for babes in Christ, as well as the spiritually mature to meditate on God and His Word. (1 Peter 2:2 & Hebrews 5:12-14). Reading the Bible in a year is a religious exercise that doesn't profit much unless your heart is in it. Man's teaching and labor in God's Word is to replace personal meditation on God. "Why is Meditation so Powerful?" by Bill Gothard .... also read "What is Scripture Meditation" "Meditating on God" by A.W. Tozer (excerpt from "That Incredible Christian") Among Christians of all ages and of varying shades of doctrinal emphasis there has been fairly full agreement on one thing: They all believed that it was im...

Jesus... the Word of God

Sunday, October 23, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert Jesus' Name is "The Word of God" Revelation 19:13  -  read the whole chapter and see that Jesus is called the Word of God John 1:1  -  the Word (Jesus) was with God and is God John 1:14  -  the Word (Jesus) was made flesh and we beheld His glory as the only begotten of the Father 1 John 5:7  -  the Father, the Word (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost are one (a.k.a. the Trinity) NOTE: If you don't use the King James Version, you may not have this verse. Many versions either completely remove this verse, combine it with the next verse, or say "these three agree in one". Beware. Proverbs 30:5  -   every word of God (Jesus) is pure... Jesus is referred to as our unblemished lamb (purity) Luke 4:4  -  Man shall live by every word of God (Jesus)... with out Jesus have have no life. See 2 Timothy 3:16 Luke 8:19-21  -  Jesus' brethren are those who hear the word of ...

Obedience

Sunday, September 25, 2011  Led by Eric Gintert Romans 5:17  -  Sin came into the world by one man's disobedience (Adam) but many are made righteous by one man's obedience (Jesus) See 1 Corinthians 15:45-46 See Proverbs 22:6... a child doesn't have to be taught how to be disobedient, he must be taught how to be obedient Philippians 2:5-8  -  This is the very thing that got Jesus in trouble with the world. (See John 1:46) Jesus never sought recognition, in fact, He told people not to say anything about miracles He had done for them. (See Mark 5:38-43) Jesus took the form of a servant and humbled Himself and became obedient unto death. (Matthew 26:39) Jesus came to do the will of His Father in Heaven. Hebrews 5:5-9  -  Christ glorified not Himself; He did not come for a title... High Priest, Pastor, Youth Director, etc. John 14:23  -  To keep means to stay, guard, ...

The Counsel of God

Sunday, March 13, 2011 Led by Dennis Jeffries Are you receiving the counsel of the world or the counsel of God in your life?  Proverbs 15:22  -  plans are disappointed when there is no counsel *** Note: "counsel" means intimate consultation (i.e. with God in prayer) and "purposes" means plans *** Proverbs 20:18  -  every plan is established by some kind of counsel (whether of the world or of God); make war with Satan when you receive good counsel Deuteronomy 32:28-29  -  the United States is void of the counsel of God and we need to consider our later end *** See Matthew 6:24 *** Psalm 1:1  -  you are blessed if you don't seek counsel from the ungodly Psalm 33:11  -  God's counsel stands forever  *** He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Letting the Word of Christ Dwell in You Richly

Sunday, March 6, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert " Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." Colossians 3:16 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3  -  if you put your faith in the Word you will be tried but don't be troubled or shaken *** Think of the Word of God as the "last will and testament" of a loved one. Usually, that last will of a loved one who has passed away is held as precious to that family members who read it and the family has a desire to fulfill their loved one's will. The Word of God should be the same way, with a desire to fulfill God's will. *** John 1:1,14  -  The Word is God and the Word became flesh... which is Jesus. 1 John 5:7  -  the Father, Word (Jesus), and Holy Ghost are one Revelation 19:13  -  Jesus is called the Word of God Hosea 4:1-6  -  Because the people have no desire, no hea...

The Lord is Thy Keeper

Sunday, February 20, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert Many times, when studying the Scriptures, you'll find that the meaning of certain words was different in the time they were written than they are now. The word "keep" when it was written in the original language means to guard or preserve. In this study we looked at the different places with the word keep to get a greater understanding of the scriptures. 1 John 2:3-5  -  if you truly love God you want to stand up to defend him just as Peter did when the soldiers came to garden to take Jesus; "keep his commandments" means that you want to guard and protect His word. Deuteronomy 7:8-9  -  God keeps (preserves) the oaths and covanents to those that love Him and keep (gaurd/preserve) His commandments Proverbs 2:8  -  He keeps the paths of judgment (chastening or condemnation) and preserves the way of His saints Psalm 121  -  the Lord is our guard and He preserves us forevermore (you won't ever lose y...

Searching

Sunday, December 12, 2010 Led by Dennis Jeffries John 5:39  -  searching to try to find something and understand it Acts 17:10-11  -  Bereans received the word with readiness of mind and searched the scriptures *** Search the Scriptures: Who is Lucifer? How many wise men came to see baby Jesus? What kind of fruit did Eve eat? *** Isaiah 34:16  -  seek out the book of the Lord and read it *** Does your Bible have dust on it? *** Malachi 3:16  -  the book of remembrance was written for them that fear the Lord Ezekiel 34:1-13  -  woe to preachers who feed themselves but not the flock; no one sought for those who were deceived to help them; God will search and seek for His sheep to deliver them *** Beware of TV preachers who want your money more then they want to preach the Word *** Isaiah 56:9-11  -  Preachers who only look to their own ways instead of feeding God's flock Jeremiah 17:10  -  God searches ...
