Obedience

Sunday, September 25, 2011  Led by Eric Gintert Romans 5:17  -  Sin came into the world by one man's disobedience (Adam) but many are made righteous by one man's obedience (Jesus) See 1 Corinthians 15:45-46 See Proverbs 22:6... a child doesn't have to be taught how to be disobedient, he must be taught how to be obedient Philippians 2:5-8  -  This is the very thing that got Jesus in trouble with the world. (See John 1:46) Jesus never sought recognition, in fact, He told people not to say anything about miracles He had done for them. (See Mark 5:38-43) Jesus took the form of a servant and humbled Himself and became obedient unto death. (Matthew 26:39) Jesus came to do the will of His Father in Heaven. Hebrews 5:5-9  -  Christ glorified not Himself; He did not come for a title... High Priest, Pastor, Youth Director, etc. John 14:23  -  To keep means to stay, guard, and protect. Casting Your Mantle

Sunday, September 18, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert 1 Kings 19:15-16  -  Elijah was told to anoint Elisha to take his place 1 Kings 19:19-21  -  The mantle is the part of a rob e that covers the head. A head covering is a symbol of authority. Elisha knew that he must follow Elijah. See 1 Corinthians 11 2 Kings 2:1-25  -  The mantle (authority) of Elijah was given to Elisha. Was Elisha worshiping Elijah or was he worshiping God? Elisha wanted the Spirit of Elijah upon him in a double portion. He saw Elijah's fire for God and wanted a double portion. The sons of the prophets started worshiping Elijah (they wanted the man not God) and they took three days to search for him. 1 Kings 18:19-19:18  -  God worked many miracles through Elijah and Elisha wanted a double portion of what Elijah had. Even Elijah was weak and weary at times. Don't worship the man but the One who put the Spirit in the man. Casting the Mantle in Everyday Life: -- Fathers are called to cast their m

Laboring for the Lord

Sunday, September 11, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert Matthew 9:37-38  -  Jesus is speaking to His followers, saying there is a great harvest but the labourers are few. Therefore, we need to pray that God would send labourers (not just preachers, pastors, choir directors, youth leaders, or prophets). We all need to be labouring for the Lord. Pray for one another that God would wake us to labor for Him. Luke 9:57-62  -  Jesus needed labourers and anyone who turned back from Him was not fit for the kingdom. Like the seed scorched by the sun is dead (Matthew 13), so a man who turns back to the world is not born again. It's not like when Jesus told the three apostles at the Garden of Gethsemane how "the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak" for these men were born again yet stumbled to the flesh. These who are not fit for the kingdom are those who never truly had salvation... they had good works that were only a fad. Psalm 127  -  "Except the Lord build the house

A Reminder for Satan

Sunday, September 4, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert Psalm 118:24  -  When we're going through trials and temptations, we need to be reminded that we're children of God and that He loves us more than everything that He created. Then we need to remind Satan the very same thing! If Satan doesn't have you doubting your salvation does he have you doubting something else? Knowing that God has given us this day, let us not put our worries on everything but rejoice in Him that He has so blessed us. Rejoicing in the blessings of Lord instead of dwelling on ourselves. James 1:1-5  -  Count it joy when you fall (meaning to be surrounded with) diverse (many) temptations. When you mess up, shake the dust from your feet and move forward (Matthew 10:14) The trying of our faith works patience in us. And if you lack, then ask of God and He will give it to you. James 4:6-10  -  When your not feeling encouraged in the Lord of on fire for God an Satan beats up for it, remind Satan that y
