The Counsel of God

Sunday, March 13, 2011
Led by Dennis Jeffries
Are you receiving the counsel of the world or the counsel of God in your life?
  • Proverbs 15:22  -  plans are disappointed when there is no counsel
    • *** Note: "counsel" means intimate consultation (i.e. with God in prayer) and "purposes" means plans ***
  • Proverbs 20:18  -  every plan is established by some kind of counsel (whether of the world or of God); make war with Satan when you receive good counsel
  • Deuteronomy 32:28-29  -  the United States is void of the counsel of God and we need to consider our later end
    • *** See Matthew 6:24 ***
  • Psalm 1:1  -  you are blessed if you don't seek counsel from the ungodly
  • Psalm 33:11  -  God's counsel stands forever
    • *** He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. See Hebrews 13:8 ***
  • Isaiah 46:9-11  -  God's counsel shall last; you can't stop what God has planned
  • Psalm 55:14  -  we took sweet counsel (fellowship) together (in a oneness)
  • Proverbs 11:14  -  you will fall when there is no counsel; there is safety in a multitude of counsellors
  • Isaiah 40:13-14  -  If you are looking for a pastor make sure to ask who they took counsel from and who where they taught by. If they answer anything other than "God" then they are not the pastor you want.
  • Jeremiah 23:16-22  -  harken not unto those who only speak what they want; if they would have sought God's counsel they would have turned from their evil
  • Acts 20:26-28  -  Paul didn't shun from declaring the counsel of God.

Don't Be Naked! - Loins Girt with Truth

The Whole Armor of God This Week: Loins Girt with Truth Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What are the Loins Girt about with Truth for? The loins help you to stand. They give you support to stand. They help you to get up when you've fallen. John 8:31-32 The truth makes you free and you'll know His disciples because they continue in His Word. John 14:6 Jesus is the  way, the  truth, and the  life. He is NOT a  way, a  truth, or a  life. Hebrews 13:8-9 The truth of Jesus does not change. Don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines. The truth is being trodden down in our day and age. He did not leave us blind in the Word.  How much are we putting our trust in the Lord? We must put on the truth so we're not ca...

The 10 Most Overlooked People in Your Church

Photo credit: https://careynieuwhof.com/8-reasons-most-churches-never-break-the-200-attendance-mark/ This post is in response to the original article by Anne Peterson. Her post on crosswalk.com can be found here: http://www.crosswalk.com/slideshows/the-10-most-overlooked-people-in-your-church.html?p=2 1. Single People It’s hard to believe that most churches overlook this group of people. In my opinion, this is probably the most regarded group. With churches forming so many “ group” activities, this ranks highest with singles groups, youth groups, teen groups, bible study groups, etc.  The author quotes no scripture here for biblical reference for the single to be administered.   1 Cor. 7:24-40 - these verses deals with both the single unmarried as well as the divorced and single. Paul gives teaching how a man and woman who are born again should desire God first, then marriage, if at all. 2. People With Illnesses If you are not part of an asse...

Performance Based Christianity

Sunday, July 28, 2013 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 2:8-9 We are saved by grace , through faith , not of works... it's the gift of God. Ephesians 4:32 "forgiving one another" is in present tense; "hath forgiven you" is in past tense. Acts 8:35-37 Philip didn't have to "do" anything; it wasn't about a physical act or performance, all he must do is believe. Romans 6:1-23   Matthew 6:21 says your heart is where your  treasure is. Our heart is our thoughts and feelings. If you heart is one God, why would you want to purposely sin? God forbid. Jesus put sin to death ans sin is put to death in us when we receive His gift of forgiveness. We are not walking in the resurrection when we are dwelling on sin, digging a hole every time we fall instead of turning our eyes back to Jesus. Jesus isn't going to die again; He put sin to death once and for all on the cross. The sin is in the moral body (the flesh), not the spiri...
