Are You Hot, Cold, or Lukewarm?

Sunday, January 23, 2010
Led by Dennis Jeffries
  • Revelation 3:15-16  -  the Laodiceans are "wishy-washy"; God spits out the lukewarm
    • *** Read Isaiah 64:6 ***
  • Matthew 12:33  -  the tree is a person; make the tree good or corrupt (don't ride the fence); you do things according to what's in your heart; a viper is a snake
    • *** Where is the first place we see a snake in scripture? What did this snake do? ***
  • Matthew 23:14-15, 23-26  -  the religious people were saying one thing and doing another; they look good on the outside but are unclean on the inside
  • Matthew 7:15  -  beware of those who look/sound good on the outside but inwardly are ravening wolves; It's not those who say they love God who will enter the kingdom of heaven, it's those who do His will that will enter; There's going to be many religious people (preachers, deacons, baptized people, church members, etc) who will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven
  • 2 Timothy 3:1-7  -  in the end times many will have the form of godliness but deny God -- turn away from these -- they lead captive silly woman
    • *** How many times have we heard stories of people, especially women, who were deceived into "sowing their seed" to a preacher and eventually were bankrupt? ***
  • Matthew 3:5-12  -   the people weren't just getting baptized, "going in dry and coming out wet", these people were truly confessing and partaking in baptism to show the world what happened inwardly; the religious people John called a generation of vipers and asked them to bring fruit of salvation; Those with bad fruit will be hewn down and cast in to the fire, sent to hell; Jesus baptizes with fire (passion, zeal, desire, etc.)
    • *** See Romans 8:16  -  John's spirit didn't bear witness with the religious people. ***
  • Ezekiel 33:1-7  -  if the watchman gives the warning but people don't take heed, the blood is on the people's head, not on the watchman's head; if the watchman doesn't warn the people, their blood is on his head
    • *** See Ezekiel 3:17-21 ***
  • Galatians 2:11-16  -  Peter didn't stand firm in what he believed but was lukewarm instead because he was trying to appeal to man; Paul withstood Peter to the face because he "walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel"; Paul told Peter to practice what he preached

Don't Be Naked! - Loins Girt with Truth

The Whole Armor of God This Week: Loins Girt with Truth Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What are the Loins Girt about with Truth for? The loins help you to stand. They give you support to stand. They help you to get up when you've fallen. John 8:31-32 The truth makes you free and you'll know His disciples because they continue in His Word. John 14:6 Jesus is the  way, the  truth, and the  life. He is NOT a  way, a  truth, or a  life. Hebrews 13:8-9 The truth of Jesus does not change. Don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines. The truth is being trodden down in our day and age. He did not leave us blind in the Word.  How much are we putting our trust in the Lord? We must put on the truth so we're not ca...

The 10 Most Overlooked People in Your Church

Photo credit: https://careynieuwhof.com/8-reasons-most-churches-never-break-the-200-attendance-mark/ This post is in response to the original article by Anne Peterson. Her post on crosswalk.com can be found here: http://www.crosswalk.com/slideshows/the-10-most-overlooked-people-in-your-church.html?p=2 1. Single People It’s hard to believe that most churches overlook this group of people. In my opinion, this is probably the most regarded group. With churches forming so many “ group” activities, this ranks highest with singles groups, youth groups, teen groups, bible study groups, etc.  The author quotes no scripture here for biblical reference for the single to be administered.   1 Cor. 7:24-40 - these verses deals with both the single unmarried as well as the divorced and single. Paul gives teaching how a man and woman who are born again should desire God first, then marriage, if at all. 2. People With Illnesses If you are not part of an asse...

Is There Oil in Your Lamp?

Sunday, March 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Matthew 25:1-13 The lamp represents your heart. The oil represents the Holy Spirit. When the virgins heard the announcement that the bridegroom was come, they were excited. Unfortunately only five of them were prepared. For the five foolish virgins, their fire went out when nothing exciting was happening. Then, when the excitement came, they didn't have enough oil to get the fire started again.  The five wise virgins knew that they couldn't give the oil (Holy Spirit) to the other women. You can live your life however you want, like the foolish virgins did, and expect to get right with God at the end of your life after you've done everything you wanted first. It's too late at that point because the door was shut. Matthew 24:36-39 The last days will be like it was in the days of Noah. Evil imaginations in the heart of man was (and now is) rampant on earth. Genesis 7:1,16 God called Noah and his family int...
