The Mercy of God

Sunday, May 8, 2010
 Led by Eric Gintert

What is mercy? Mercy is God looking down and not letting great consequence come upon you because He see's repentance in you heart and a change in your actions.
  • 1 Peter 1:3-5  -  His abundant mercy is the only reason why we are granted these things; grace and forgiveness come out of the mercy of God.
  • Proverbs 28:13  -  he who confesses and forsakes his sin (repents) shall receive mercy
  • Titus 3:3-7  -  it was not according to our works of righteousness that we were saved but by his mercy; we are justified (declared righteous) by His grace
  • Genesis 19:15-16  -  God magnified His mercy in the life of Lot
  • Proverbs 21:21  -  those who follow after righteousness receive mercy
  • Luke 23:39-43  -  an example of mercy showing that even in great sin, a repentant  heart receives mercy
  • Psalm 86:1-17  -  David's prayer pleading for mercy from God; God is abundant and plenteous in mercy
  • Matthew 5:7  -  the merciful (compassionate) shall obtain mercy
  • Lamentations 3:1-66  -  it is because of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed; a spiritual rollercoaster
  • 1 Timothy 1:12-17  -  Paul obtained mercy because his sin was committed ignorantly in unbelief
Some things to think about for further study:  Who doesn't receive mercy? How to we "do" or show mercy to others?

Prayer Requests:
Aaron Coleman  -  hurt arm; job
Rachele Shelton  -  health issues
Larry Schultz  -  sister died; shoulder problems
Laurie and Bonnie  -  work for FEMA helping with recent disasters
Ray and Penny Walters  -  health issues and car problems

Don't Be Naked! - Loins Girt with Truth

The Whole Armor of God This Week: Loins Girt with Truth Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What are the Loins Girt about with Truth for? The loins help you to stand. They give you support to stand. They help you to get up when you've fallen. John 8:31-32 The truth makes you free and you'll know His disciples because they continue in His Word. John 14:6 Jesus is the  way, the  truth, and the  life. He is NOT a  way, a  truth, or a  life. Hebrews 13:8-9 The truth of Jesus does not change. Don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines. The truth is being trodden down in our day and age. He did not leave us blind in the Word.  How much are we putting our trust in the Lord? We must put on the truth so we're not ca...

The 10 Most Overlooked People in Your Church

Photo credit: https://careynieuwhof.com/8-reasons-most-churches-never-break-the-200-attendance-mark/ This post is in response to the original article by Anne Peterson. Her post on crosswalk.com can be found here: http://www.crosswalk.com/slideshows/the-10-most-overlooked-people-in-your-church.html?p=2 1. Single People It’s hard to believe that most churches overlook this group of people. In my opinion, this is probably the most regarded group. With churches forming so many “ group” activities, this ranks highest with singles groups, youth groups, teen groups, bible study groups, etc.  The author quotes no scripture here for biblical reference for the single to be administered.   1 Cor. 7:24-40 - these verses deals with both the single unmarried as well as the divorced and single. Paul gives teaching how a man and woman who are born again should desire God first, then marriage, if at all. 2. People With Illnesses If you are not part of an asse...

Performance Based Christianity

Sunday, July 28, 2013 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 2:8-9 We are saved by grace , through faith , not of works... it's the gift of God. Ephesians 4:32 "forgiving one another" is in present tense; "hath forgiven you" is in past tense. Acts 8:35-37 Philip didn't have to "do" anything; it wasn't about a physical act or performance, all he must do is believe. Romans 6:1-23   Matthew 6:21 says your heart is where your  treasure is. Our heart is our thoughts and feelings. If you heart is one God, why would you want to purposely sin? God forbid. Jesus put sin to death ans sin is put to death in us when we receive His gift of forgiveness. We are not walking in the resurrection when we are dwelling on sin, digging a hole every time we fall instead of turning our eyes back to Jesus. Jesus isn't going to die again; He put sin to death once and for all on the cross. The sin is in the moral body (the flesh), not the spiri...
