A House Divided Shall Fall

Sunday, June 19, 2011
Led by Eric Gintert
  • Matthew 24:12  -  Love waxes cold because iniquity increases more and more; love is not affection & sensualism.
  • 2 John 1-6  -  Love is defined as keeping God's commandments. Therefore, referring to the above verse, the keeping of God's commandments is waxing cold.
  • 1 Timothy 2:13  -  Eve was deceived, not Adam... Adam harkened unto his wife. If Adam would have rebuked Eve, would that have been love? Yes.
***** Example of love waxing cold today: Women preachers/pastors (1 Tim. 2:12 & 1 Tim. 3:2).
  • Luke 11:14-28  -  a kingdom or house divided against itself will fall; problems need to be dealt with quickly or it will fall (See Prov. 19:18 & Prov. 13:24); If you don't deal with the problem but sugar coat it, the problem leaves, swept and garnished, for a time but then comes back worse than it was before.
  • John 6:52-69  -  Jesus was speaking in the church building to the religious and his followers; Jesus went in and declared truth and the people were offended at what he said and his disciples rejected him and went back... their love waxed cold. Jesus asked his apostles, "Will ye also go away?"  Jesus was giving his words to people in the assembly, they didn't like or agree with what he said but Jesus said his words are "spirit and life" (v.63) - see also John 4:24.
  • John 8:1-12  -  The woman, caught "red handed" in adultery, was told by Jesus "go and sin no more". In other words, Jesus told her to repent. Repent means "to think differently or afterwards, i.e. reconsider", is this not the same as "go and sin no more"? Jesus did not condemn the woman. Condemn = to judge against, sentence, damn.  If she went and sinned no more she began to love thy neighbor (walking in the commandments), if she continued in adultery after hearing Jesus' commandment (never repented), her love waxed cold.
  • John 2:13-17  -  Jesus drove out those who were sinning in the temple because they were making "The House of Prayer" of den of thieves by being fornicators, extortioners, covetous, and idolators (see 1 Cor 5:11)
  • Numbers 15:31  -  if you despise the word of the Lord you will be utterly cut off and your sin will be upon you
For Further Study:
  • What does Jesus/God's Word say about lying/bearing false witness?
    • See Ex 20:16, Prov 6:16-19, Prov 19:5,9, Prov 25:18, Prov 26:28
  • What does Jesus/God's Word say about covetousness/idolatry?
    • See Col 3:5, Gal 5:19-21, 1 Cor 10:14, Ezek 33:29-32
  • See 1 Cor 5, 2 Thess 3, and Numbers 12
  • Jesus had to cleanse the temple.
    • See John 2:13-17 & Mark 11:15-19
    • Did Jesus stay at the temple after dispersing them?
  • What is the purpose of loving your neighbor?
    • See 2 John 6  -  love means to walk after (be a doer) and keep (guard and protect) God's commandments
  • Warning from despising God's commandments.
    • See Numbers 15:31, 1 Sam 15:23-26, Jer 6:10, Jer 8:9

Don't Be Naked! - Loins Girt with Truth

The Whole Armor of God This Week: Loins Girt with Truth Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What are the Loins Girt about with Truth for? The loins help you to stand. They give you support to stand. They help you to get up when you've fallen. John 8:31-32 The truth makes you free and you'll know His disciples because they continue in His Word. John 14:6 Jesus is the  way, the  truth, and the  life. He is NOT a  way, a  truth, or a  life. Hebrews 13:8-9 The truth of Jesus does not change. Don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines. The truth is being trodden down in our day and age. He did not leave us blind in the Word.  How much are we putting our trust in the Lord? We must put on the truth so we're not carried away with fa

Don't Be Naked! - The Breastplate

The Whole Armor of God This Week: The Breastplate Click image to enlarge. Sunday, September 30, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God Isaiah 59:16-17 This is what God wants us to be clothed with... the very thing He clothed His Son with! Ephesians 6:14 The breastplate protects the heart and desires. 1 Thessalonians 5:4-9 Your heart represents your desires. Are you desiring your own righteousness or His righteousness? Jude 3 says, "...   ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints" yet we're doing the same things as the world. We say that we have our armor on, but really, we're sleeping. William Booth's Breastplate of Righteousness William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army, was not concerned with thrift stores, food lines, and raising money (while all this is a good work and nothing is wrong with the cause). He guarded his heart by having a conc

Freaking out in Times of Peace

Sunday, June 24, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Encouragement from the Lord that He is our rock and fortress, He is our peace in the storm... so stop FREAKING OUT! :-) Psalm 3:1-8 The enemy is not necessarily people coming against him, but powers and principalities (spiritual warfare). The battle is often in the mind with doubt, depression, etc. This is why we are commanded not to be fearful of the one who destroys the body, but the one who destroys the soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28) David knew that God was his shield and strong tower, his protector. Matthew 8:23-27 In the midst of the storm, Jesus was sleeping in the bottom of the boat. Even when everyone else was freaking out, Jesus was at peace. Peace was right their in the ship with them, and they were freaking out! Jesus rebuked them saying, "Why are ye fearful, o ye of little faith?" Prayer Requests Fields Family  -  house to rent Joel F. mom & dad  -  mom going through 4 surgery in last
