Daniel Prayed

Sunday, August 21, 2011
Led by Eric Gintert
  • Daniel 1:1-21  -  Where was Daniel's family? He never mentions having a father, mother, brothers or sisters. Perhaps they were killed when they were captured by the Babylonians? Right after Daniel was captured he wanted to serve God and not man and therefore God made his enemies to be at peace with him (Proverbs 16:7). God blessed Daniel and his friends because they wanted to serve God more than men.
  • Daniel 2:16-23, 27-28  -  Daniel was an intercessor for those who the king wanted to kill. Daniel went to the other godly men to receive counsel and prayer. They had a prayer night seeking God's wisdom. Just as the king thought he could get understanding from the magicians, astrologers, and sorcerers, we think we can go to intellectual people for instruction and wisdom but only God can give true wisdom.
  • Daniel 6:10-11  -  Daniel continued praying to God when the decree was written that men should only pray to the king. The open windows in Daniel's house symbolizes the opening of our hearts toward God as we come to him in prayer. By praying on his knees, Daniel humbled himself before God. Daniel continued praying because it was already an important part of his life... he wasn't just doing it because trouble was coming... he did it because he had a sincere desire to commune with God.
  • Daniel 9:1-23  -  Daniel sought God by prayer with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. He humbled himself by not seeing himself greater than everyone else. Daniel didn't say everyone but him was guilty, he included himself with the guilty. If they would have prayed they possibly could have been spared from the captivity. Daniel became an intercessor for the people. Daniel prayed "thy will be done" and was greatly beloved before God.
  • Daniel 10:10-12, 14-19  -  Daniel chastened himself before God. God sent an angel to make Daniel understand. God sought Daniel's heart and even though Daniel sinned he was greatly beloved before God.
  • Daniel 12:1-13  -  Prophecy being fulfilled today which was given to Daniel.

Don't Be Naked! - Loins Girt with Truth

The Whole Armor of God This Week: Loins Girt with Truth Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What are the Loins Girt about with Truth for? The loins help you to stand. They give you support to stand. They help you to get up when you've fallen. John 8:31-32 The truth makes you free and you'll know His disciples because they continue in His Word. John 14:6 Jesus is the  way, the  truth, and the  life. He is NOT a  way, a  truth, or a  life. Hebrews 13:8-9 The truth of Jesus does not change. Don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines. The truth is being trodden down in our day and age. He did not leave us blind in the Word.  How much are we putting our trust in the Lord? We must put on the truth so we're not ca...

The 10 Most Overlooked People in Your Church

Photo credit: https://careynieuwhof.com/8-reasons-most-churches-never-break-the-200-attendance-mark/ This post is in response to the original article by Anne Peterson. Her post on crosswalk.com can be found here: http://www.crosswalk.com/slideshows/the-10-most-overlooked-people-in-your-church.html?p=2 1. Single People It’s hard to believe that most churches overlook this group of people. In my opinion, this is probably the most regarded group. With churches forming so many “ group” activities, this ranks highest with singles groups, youth groups, teen groups, bible study groups, etc.  The author quotes no scripture here for biblical reference for the single to be administered.   1 Cor. 7:24-40 - these verses deals with both the single unmarried as well as the divorced and single. Paul gives teaching how a man and woman who are born again should desire God first, then marriage, if at all. 2. People With Illnesses If you are not part of an asse...

Is There Oil in Your Lamp?

Sunday, March 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Matthew 25:1-13 The lamp represents your heart. The oil represents the Holy Spirit. When the virgins heard the announcement that the bridegroom was come, they were excited. Unfortunately only five of them were prepared. For the five foolish virgins, their fire went out when nothing exciting was happening. Then, when the excitement came, they didn't have enough oil to get the fire started again.  The five wise virgins knew that they couldn't give the oil (Holy Spirit) to the other women. You can live your life however you want, like the foolish virgins did, and expect to get right with God at the end of your life after you've done everything you wanted first. It's too late at that point because the door was shut. Matthew 24:36-39 The last days will be like it was in the days of Noah. Evil imaginations in the heart of man was (and now is) rampant on earth. Genesis 7:1,16 God called Noah and his family int...
