- Matthew 21:12-17 (see also Mark 11:15-17 & Luke 19:45-46) - God's house is His house of prayer and Jesus was angry when he saw his Father's house being defiled.
- Our bodies are the temple (see 1 Corinthians 6:19). Don't come to the Lord in prayer for your own gain and glory; Go to God for His gain and glory. We need to keep out temples (bodies) pure in prayer.
- Jeremiah 7:1-16 - defiling the house of God
- 2 Chronicles 7:12-14 - If God's people will humble themselves and pray, God will forgive them their sins and heal them.
