Pray for our Leaders

Sunday, January 29, 2012
Led by Eric Gintert

The most important thing we can do this election year is not to vote, but to pray.
  • Acts 1:1 - 2:47
    • As our leader, Jesus always did what He said He was going to do... He was a doer and not a hearer only (James 1:22)
    • Even the Apostles were concerned about if Jesus was going to restore the kingdom back to Israel... they were only looking at the physical kingdom and not the spiritual kingdom.
    • Jesus didn't come to obtain political power, but to advance God's kingdom.
    • Jesus came to reign in our hearts... He is our spiritual King.
    • Herod wanted to kill Jesus (and killed many babies in the attempt) because the political rulers thought He came to take their position... they were thinking carnally and not spiritually.
"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty." 1 Timothy 2:1-2

We need to pray for those in authority in our country. During a campaign, candidates say many things that they promise to do if they are voted into office but very little of that ever gets carried through once they are in. Instead, they blame Congress, the Senate, and/or prior presidencies for why they could not keep their promises. This is why we need to pray for our leaders.

Our Current Line Up:
Mitt Romney - Mormon (false teaching)
Rick Santorum - Catholic (worship Mary and idols)
Newt Gingrich - professing Protestant (also an adulterer and found guilty in House)
Ron Paul - Lukewarm at best (says everyone has a right to choose)
President Obama - hasn't kept promises, everyone has a right to choose
This is why we need to pray for our leaders!

Luke 23:28-31

Women are no longer blessed and looked well upon if they have many children (above the 2.3 per house average).

In the News:
Historical All-Female Flight Takes Place Aboard USS Carl Vinson - Navy News
Victims speak out about North Carolina sterilization program, which targeted women, young girls and blacks - MSNBC Rock Center

Consider this:

1. There’s a traveling preacher and his wife who are living in poverty. They already have fourteen children. Now she finds out she’s pregnant with the 15th child. They are very poor
and probably will be unable to afford a doctor’s attention. Considering their poverty, the
excessive world population, and the number of children they already have, would you
recommend she get an abortion?

2. The grandmother is an alcoholic and the father spends his evenings out drinking in the taverns. His mother has tuberculosis. She has already given birth to four children. The first child is blind, the second child died, the third child is deaf, and the fourth child has tuberculosis. Now the mother is pregnant again. Given the extreme situation, would you recommend an abortion?

3. A white man raped a 13-year-old black girl and now she is pregnant. Her family lives in extreme poverty; in fact, to survive, they often have to steal food. If you were her parents, would you recommend or require her to have an abortion?

4. A young girl is pregnant. She is not married and is very poor. The man she hopes to marry is not the father of the baby. There is no hospital or doctor available. Would you recommend that
she get an abortion?

The Outcome:
1: You would have just aborted the world-famous Methodist preacher John Wesley.

2: You would have just aborted the great composer Ludwig van Beethoven.

3: You would have just aborted Ethel Waters, the marvelous black Gospel singer.

4: You would have just aborted Jesus Christ, the savior of the world!

Don't Be Naked! - Loins Girt with Truth

The Whole Armor of God This Week: Loins Girt with Truth Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What are the Loins Girt about with Truth for? The loins help you to stand. They give you support to stand. They help you to get up when you've fallen. John 8:31-32 The truth makes you free and you'll know His disciples because they continue in His Word. John 14:6 Jesus is the  way, the  truth, and the  life. He is NOT a  way, a  truth, or a  life. Hebrews 13:8-9 The truth of Jesus does not change. Don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines. The truth is being trodden down in our day and age. He did not leave us blind in the Word.  How much are we putting our trust in the Lord? We must put on the truth so we're not ca...

The 10 Most Overlooked People in Your Church

Photo credit: https://careynieuwhof.com/8-reasons-most-churches-never-break-the-200-attendance-mark/ This post is in response to the original article by Anne Peterson. Her post on crosswalk.com can be found here: http://www.crosswalk.com/slideshows/the-10-most-overlooked-people-in-your-church.html?p=2 1. Single People It’s hard to believe that most churches overlook this group of people. In my opinion, this is probably the most regarded group. With churches forming so many “ group” activities, this ranks highest with singles groups, youth groups, teen groups, bible study groups, etc.  The author quotes no scripture here for biblical reference for the single to be administered.   1 Cor. 7:24-40 - these verses deals with both the single unmarried as well as the divorced and single. Paul gives teaching how a man and woman who are born again should desire God first, then marriage, if at all. 2. People With Illnesses If you are not part of an asse...

"Good Works Salvation"

Sunday, June 12, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert Begin by reading James 2 and then we will discuss if out works are good enough to get to heaven. The Rich Young Ruler Matthew 19:16-26  -  The young rich man asked "what good thing [work] shall I do ?"; he wanted to know how to go to heaven; Jesus gave all the commandments regarding how we should treat others and the young rich man proclaimed that he had kept all these things... he'd done good to others (he was a "good person"). But Jesus told him that to be perfect (meaning complete) he needed to "come and follow me [Jesus] "... God works aren't enough; the young man was so sorrowful when he walked away because he had just rejected the Holy Ghost; it is hard for a rich man to enter heaven... we are all rich; It is impossible for a rich man to enter heaven based on his own "good works" but it is possible to enter heaven with God Mark 10:17-21  -  The young rich man ran and kneeled before Jesus...
