Jesus: Your Saviour or Your Religion?

Sunday, March 11, 2012
Led by Eric Gintert
How, in your relationship with the Lord, did you prepare yourself for the church services this Sunday morning? Did you religiously go to church or did your prepare your heart, mind, and soul for God's Word?

2 Corinthians 11:1-34
  • See 1 Corinthians 1:1-2... Paul was writing to the believers... those who are sanctified.
  • The foundation of the Corinthians problems was that they were following men instead of God and causing divisions among themselves.
  • 1 Corinthians 11 gives many physical examples that have spiritual meanings.
  • In all their religious activity they didn't know that they were missing the spirit of God.
  • The Word of God is the bread and blood of Christ
    • Taking part in the spiritual eating of the bread and blood (God's word) of Christ will not save you and make you right before God, you must be in continual repentance. Taking part in communion services every month at church isn't sufficient to make you right in God's eyes... it's simply religious works that profit nothing.
  • There are many spiritually sick and weak who are sleeping in the church buildings.
    • See Joel 1:5... Awake ye ministers!
  • If we would judge (examine) ourselves, we wouldn't be judged of others. If we let God's word judge us we will be corrected and not devoured!
  • Our relationship with Christ must come first, the works will follow because of that relationship with Him.
1 Samuel 15:22
  • To obey His voice is better than sacrifice
  • Romans 12:1 we are to be a living sacrifice... is this a contradiction?
  • We are to sacrifice our hearts, but our works are useless to Him!

Don't Be Naked! - Loins Girt with Truth

The Whole Armor of God This Week: Loins Girt with Truth Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What are the Loins Girt about with Truth for? The loins help you to stand. They give you support to stand. They help you to get up when you've fallen. John 8:31-32 The truth makes you free and you'll know His disciples because they continue in His Word. John 14:6 Jesus is the  way, the  truth, and the  life. He is NOT a  way, a  truth, or a  life. Hebrews 13:8-9 The truth of Jesus does not change. Don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines. The truth is being trodden down in our day and age. He did not leave us blind in the Word.  How much are we putting our trust in the Lord? We must put on the truth so we're not ca...

The 10 Most Overlooked People in Your Church

Photo credit: https://careynieuwhof.com/8-reasons-most-churches-never-break-the-200-attendance-mark/ This post is in response to the original article by Anne Peterson. Her post on crosswalk.com can be found here: http://www.crosswalk.com/slideshows/the-10-most-overlooked-people-in-your-church.html?p=2 1. Single People It’s hard to believe that most churches overlook this group of people. In my opinion, this is probably the most regarded group. With churches forming so many “ group” activities, this ranks highest with singles groups, youth groups, teen groups, bible study groups, etc.  The author quotes no scripture here for biblical reference for the single to be administered.   1 Cor. 7:24-40 - these verses deals with both the single unmarried as well as the divorced and single. Paul gives teaching how a man and woman who are born again should desire God first, then marriage, if at all. 2. People With Illnesses If you are not part of an asse...

Performance Based Christianity

Sunday, July 28, 2013 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 2:8-9 We are saved by grace , through faith , not of works... it's the gift of God. Ephesians 4:32 "forgiving one another" is in present tense; "hath forgiven you" is in past tense. Acts 8:35-37 Philip didn't have to "do" anything; it wasn't about a physical act or performance, all he must do is believe. Romans 6:1-23   Matthew 6:21 says your heart is where your  treasure is. Our heart is our thoughts and feelings. If you heart is one God, why would you want to purposely sin? God forbid. Jesus put sin to death ans sin is put to death in us when we receive His gift of forgiveness. We are not walking in the resurrection when we are dwelling on sin, digging a hole every time we fall instead of turning our eyes back to Jesus. Jesus isn't going to die again; He put sin to death once and for all on the cross. The sin is in the moral body (the flesh), not the spiri...
