The Key Parable

Sunday, March 25, 2012
Led by Eric Gintert
Matthew 3:22-35 - Setting the stage for Chapter 4
  • Mark 3:27  -  Jesus is the strong man and Satan cannot enter in to destroy Him or spoil what is His.
  • Mark 3:29  -  Blaspheme against the holy ghost is unpardonable sin... Should not pray for those who have done this... See 1 John 5:16
  • Mark 3:30  -  These were in danger of blaspheming the holy ghost because they said that Jesus had an unclean spirit.
  • Mark 3:35  -  This is the crowd... The people whom Jesus is talking to. There are religious, those who wanted to find fault in Him, brethren, His earthly mother, etc.
Matthew 4:1-20 - A Parable of True and False Conversion
  • Mark 4:2  -  Parable = analogy; fictitious story with meaning; an earthly story with a heavenly meaning
  • Mark 4:7  -  The good seed will not choke out the thorns. The thorns will always choke the good seed.
  • Mark 4:9  -  See Mark 3:35... Who is "them"?
  • Mark 4:11  -  Believers can be given a greater understanding than those who don't know Christ.  Only if your heart condition is focused on glorifying God, not self. He won't give the understanding if we're not going to use it.
  • Mark 4:12  -  See Isaiah 6:9-10 and Isaiah 43:8... Someone who knows the Lord will understand the parable. And, it will help the lost to understand spiritual things. Because they perceive not the things of the spirit so Jesus has to speak in ways they will understand. Like teaching a child... Break it down and explain it in a different way so they can understand.
  • Mark 4:13  -  This is the key parable to all parables... The first parable in all 4 gospels spoken by Jesus. If you can't understand this parable, how will you understand any other parables? It's given for us to know the mystery of God, as believers, we are given a great gift. Those who don't know the Lord are only to understand parables. When He gives understanding to believers, it's so that we can take it to the lost and share the gospel with them. Learn what parables mean, when to use them, and who to share them with. God didn't leave us without the tools to go and share the gospel with people.
  • Mark 4:15  -  These don't even consider God... No hope from the beginning.
  • Mark 4:17  -  No desire to inquire more about Christ after their supposed conversion.
  • Mark 4:19  -  Jesus is just a fad... Once something else along comes that looks better, they leave and starting following after their lusts.  You can't have unjust balance... Theses are always wanting to hear about the "good" things... Can't stand having toes stepped on.
  • Mark 4:20  -  Their life is really on fire for Jesus... They want to conform their life to Christ. The only one to produce fruit... The other seeds never produced anything.

Don't Be Naked! - Loins Girt with Truth

The Whole Armor of God This Week: Loins Girt with Truth Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What are the Loins Girt about with Truth for? The loins help you to stand. They give you support to stand. They help you to get up when you've fallen. John 8:31-32 The truth makes you free and you'll know His disciples because they continue in His Word. John 14:6 Jesus is the  way, the  truth, and the  life. He is NOT a  way, a  truth, or a  life. Hebrews 13:8-9 The truth of Jesus does not change. Don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines. The truth is being trodden down in our day and age. He did not leave us blind in the Word.  How much are we putting our trust in the Lord? We must put on the truth so we're not ca...

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus: Darkness

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus This Week: Darkness Sunday, November 4, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Who is Jesus to You? Savior? What does that mean? Savior from what? Lord? What does that mean? What does it mean to be Lord? We need to be lightened! Psalm 34:1-5 "They" (in verse 5) are the humble who want to exalt the name of the Lord. "Him" is the Lord. They looked unto the Lord and they were lightened and not ashamed. On judgment day, some will look on Him and be ashamed but others will be able to stand before Him completely unashamed and justified. Are we asking and seeking to be lightened by Him in all issues: politics, relationships, etc? Darkness came before Light... Genesis 1:1-2 Before there was light, there was darkness. Before we can know and understand the great mercy and grace that the Lord has given us, we must first understand all the filth, guile, wickedness, and sin that we have taken part in. We must understa...

Cleansing the Leper

Sunday, January 8, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert Matthew 8:1-4 (also in Mark 1:40-44 and Luke 5:12-14)  -  Why did Jesus, being the way, the truth, and the life, tell the cleansed leper to go back to the priest according to the law in which Jesus was here to fulfill? Leviticus 13:1-8, 32-34, 43-46  -  According to the law, when a man had leprosy he had to go before the priest who would check on him every seven days to see whether he was clean or unclean according to the signs of the disease. Leviticus 14:1-11  -  If the priest found the man was clean from his leprosy, a sacrifice was to be made. A bird was to be killed in an earthen vessel over running water.  Jesus wanted the man to show the priest what He had done for the leper. The priest was supposed to come the the leper and pronounce him clean but instead the man went to the priest to show that he was clean, not only physically but also spiritually. Jesus was the earthen vessel... G...
