Passover: A Spiritual Remembrance

Sunday, April 8, 2012
Led by Eric Gintert
  • Revelation 3:15-16  -  Mixing the Easter bunny and eggs in with Jesus and the resurrection is lukewarm and God spews it out of His mouth.
  • John 6:22-58
    • The Passover is no longer a physical thing that we are to observe. Jesus fulfilled the law when the veil in the temple was rent in two as He was dying on the cross. We now have a spiritual Passover that we should observe in our hearts every day. In Luke 22:19-22, Jesus commands us to eat the bread and drink from the cup in remembrance of Him, but Jesus also said not to labor for meat that parishes (John 6:27). Does this sound like a contradiction? JESUS IS THE BREAD (John 6:35)... JESUS IS THE WORD (John 1:1,14)... THE BREAD IS THE WORD (Luke 4:4). "This do in remembrance of me..." (Luke 22:19) is not about reenacting a place and event... it's about our heart, mind, and soul seeking to draw life from Him.
    • Through this "spiritual remembrance" the believers and non-believers will be evident. The true believers will feed off Jesus... those who eat of Jesus will exercise their faith and it will be evident that they are spiritually fit. Just as you can tell a person who eats and eats but doesn't exercise.
      • Example: Peter and Judas  -  Scripture says that when Peter saw the face of his Saviour after denying him, he wept bitterly over his sin (Luke 22:61-62). After Judas sinned, he went to the men who hired him and confessed, but he never went to Jesus and confessed (Matthew 27:3-5)... he had worldly sorrow but not godly sorrow (2 Corinthians 7:10).
    • Scripture never says that Jesus and the apostles drank wine at the Last Supper. Jesus was never defiled... he never let any unclean thing go in or come out of His body. During the Old Testament Passover there was to be NO leaven in the house (Exodus 12:15)... how is alcoholic wine made?... it is leavened! Jesus never drank alcoholic wine!
  • Malachi 3:16-18  -  There is a book of remembrance written for everyone who fears the Lord and who speaks one to another about Him. In the same way, you will know true believers will fear the Lord and speak one to another about Him.
  • Mark 16:9-14 & Luke 16:24-31  -  Just as Abraham told the rich man that his brethren wouldn't believe even if a man came back from the dead... so the disciples didn't believe when Jesus came back from the dead. This just proves that even though you eat and drink from Jesus doesn't mean the you won't mess up.
  • Hebrews 10:10-17  -  The Greek meaning for the word remembrance is to bear in mind or recollect by implying to reward or punish. When it says that God won't remember our sins any longer, it means that He will no longer hold them to our charge... He doesn't see us as guilty for that sin anymore.
  • Matthew 6:11  -  "Give us this day our daily bread." We have need to feed from Jesus every day.

Don't Be Naked! - Loins Girt with Truth

The Whole Armor of God This Week: Loins Girt with Truth Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What are the Loins Girt about with Truth for? The loins help you to stand. They give you support to stand. They help you to get up when you've fallen. John 8:31-32 The truth makes you free and you'll know His disciples because they continue in His Word. John 14:6 Jesus is the  way, the  truth, and the  life. He is NOT a  way, a  truth, or a  life. Hebrews 13:8-9 The truth of Jesus does not change. Don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines. The truth is being trodden down in our day and age. He did not leave us blind in the Word.  How much are we putting our trust in the Lord? We must put on the truth so we're not ca...

The 10 Most Overlooked People in Your Church

Photo credit: https://careynieuwhof.com/8-reasons-most-churches-never-break-the-200-attendance-mark/ This post is in response to the original article by Anne Peterson. Her post on crosswalk.com can be found here: http://www.crosswalk.com/slideshows/the-10-most-overlooked-people-in-your-church.html?p=2 1. Single People It’s hard to believe that most churches overlook this group of people. In my opinion, this is probably the most regarded group. With churches forming so many “ group” activities, this ranks highest with singles groups, youth groups, teen groups, bible study groups, etc.  The author quotes no scripture here for biblical reference for the single to be administered.   1 Cor. 7:24-40 - these verses deals with both the single unmarried as well as the divorced and single. Paul gives teaching how a man and woman who are born again should desire God first, then marriage, if at all. 2. People With Illnesses If you are not part of an asse...

Performance Based Christianity

Sunday, July 28, 2013 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 2:8-9 We are saved by grace , through faith , not of works... it's the gift of God. Ephesians 4:32 "forgiving one another" is in present tense; "hath forgiven you" is in past tense. Acts 8:35-37 Philip didn't have to "do" anything; it wasn't about a physical act or performance, all he must do is believe. Romans 6:1-23   Matthew 6:21 says your heart is where your  treasure is. Our heart is our thoughts and feelings. If you heart is one God, why would you want to purposely sin? God forbid. Jesus put sin to death ans sin is put to death in us when we receive His gift of forgiveness. We are not walking in the resurrection when we are dwelling on sin, digging a hole every time we fall instead of turning our eyes back to Jesus. Jesus isn't going to die again; He put sin to death once and for all on the cross. The sin is in the moral body (the flesh), not the spiri...
