The Power of Two

Sunday, August 5, 2012
Led by Eric Gintert

Matthew 18:15-20
  • The mouth of two or three witnesses brings justice.
  • God will bless those who are in unity of Spirit.
  • Two or three gathered in unity will not be deceived when a deceiver comes in. They will confront the matter and put it to rest.
2 Corinthians 13:1-3
  • Paul says that even his epistle is a witness. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall everything be established.
Gideon had too many men going to battle for the Lord to show His mighty hand. God reduced Gideon's army from 32,000 to 10,000 to 300 men (Judges 7:3-6). God used Gideon's army of 300 to defeat 135,000 Midianites (Judges 8:10). God shows His power in small numbers.

1 Timothy 5:17-20
  • Elders are those who are mature and grown in the Lord.
  • Do not accuse an elder unless you have two or three witnesses who can back you up.
  • The elders are worthy of double honor. Be careful when you accuse them!
  • Those who accuse, do it openly before the church that others might understand and learn as well.
    • Many don't do this today because they're afraid of being told, "Don't judge me!"
Revelation 11:3
  • God will have two witnesses who will prophesy... it will only take two.
  • Look at what He can do with just two!
Revelation 20:11-15
  • There are two books by which the whole world will be judged:
    1. The Lamb's Book of Life  ~OR~
    2. The books of our works
Ecclesiastes 4:8-12
  • Two are better than one and have a good reward for their labor.
  • If one falls, the other can pick him up. If one gets beaten and wore down, the other uplifts him. But a threefold cord is not easily broken.
  • Think of a household where only one spouse knows Christ but the other doesn't. When the believer falls, they have no one to encourage them to get back up again.
  • Satan knows that if he can destroy the husband, then he can destroy the wife. Or if he destroys the parents, he can destroy the children.
"Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." James 1:27
Think of this in a spiritual sense of ministering to those who don't have a spiritual companion to lift them up when they are down and weak.
"Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend." Proverbs 27:17

Don't Be Naked! - Loins Girt with Truth

The Whole Armor of God This Week: Loins Girt with Truth Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What are the Loins Girt about with Truth for? The loins help you to stand. They give you support to stand. They help you to get up when you've fallen. John 8:31-32 The truth makes you free and you'll know His disciples because they continue in His Word. John 14:6 Jesus is the  way, the  truth, and the  life. He is NOT a  way, a  truth, or a  life. Hebrews 13:8-9 The truth of Jesus does not change. Don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines. The truth is being trodden down in our day and age. He did not leave us blind in the Word.  How much are we putting our trust in the Lord? We must put on the truth so we're not ca...

The 10 Most Overlooked People in Your Church

Photo credit: https://careynieuwhof.com/8-reasons-most-churches-never-break-the-200-attendance-mark/ This post is in response to the original article by Anne Peterson. Her post on crosswalk.com can be found here: http://www.crosswalk.com/slideshows/the-10-most-overlooked-people-in-your-church.html?p=2 1. Single People It’s hard to believe that most churches overlook this group of people. In my opinion, this is probably the most regarded group. With churches forming so many “ group” activities, this ranks highest with singles groups, youth groups, teen groups, bible study groups, etc.  The author quotes no scripture here for biblical reference for the single to be administered.   1 Cor. 7:24-40 - these verses deals with both the single unmarried as well as the divorced and single. Paul gives teaching how a man and woman who are born again should desire God first, then marriage, if at all. 2. People With Illnesses If you are not part of an asse...

Cleansing the Leper

Sunday, January 8, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert Matthew 8:1-4 (also in Mark 1:40-44 and Luke 5:12-14)  -  Why did Jesus, being the way, the truth, and the life, tell the cleansed leper to go back to the priest according to the law in which Jesus was here to fulfill? Leviticus 13:1-8, 32-34, 43-46  -  According to the law, when a man had leprosy he had to go before the priest who would check on him every seven days to see whether he was clean or unclean according to the signs of the disease. Leviticus 14:1-11  -  If the priest found the man was clean from his leprosy, a sacrifice was to be made. A bird was to be killed in an earthen vessel over running water.  Jesus wanted the man to show the priest what He had done for the leper. The priest was supposed to come the the leper and pronounce him clean but instead the man went to the priest to show that he was clean, not only physically but also spiritually. Jesus was the earthen vessel... G...
