Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus: Thou Art Inexcusable, O Man

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
This Week: Thou Art Inexcusable, O Man

Led by Eric Gintert

"Thou Art Inexcusable, O Man!"

Romans 2:1-29
  • We judge others (pass sentence and accuse) for the same things the we ourselves are guilty of.
  • God's judgments are always according to the Truth.
If God's judgement are always according to the truth, then aren't we all guilty? We can pass sentence on others for their trespasses, but do we really think that we can escape God's judgment on us because "we aren't as bad as they are"?
  • God is longsuffering and patient... if He wasn't we would all have NO hope. The goodness of God leads to repentance.
  • God WILL render to every man according to his deeds!
  • God is not a respecter of persons... He will punish all the guilty and honor every righteous person, regardless of ethnicity, background, religious upbringing, etc.
  • Those who are without the law will perish without the law. Those that have the law will be judged by the law.

Age of Accountability

  • The doctrine of the "Age of Accountability" is unseen in the scriptures. God's word never mentions a certain age (between 4 and 6) that a child is accountable for their sins. It is different for each child.
  • Children & infants are in innocence and do not understand the consequences of sinning against God. Even when they do something in disobedience, they don't understand that disobeying is a sin against God.
  • Whenever it is that a child eats of the tree of knowledge of good and evil and they finally understand the difference between honoring and obeying God and disobeying and sinning, it is then that they are accountable to God for their unrighteousness.

Written in our Hearts

God writes the law in our hearts so even those in the remote jungles have God's law in them to know what is morally wrong.

  • Paul is telling those whole have the law to "practice what they preach".
  • God's name is blasphemed by those who boast the law.... they are hypocrites.

"Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." Matthew 7:5

  • Our generation is so thin skinned but we have hard hearts.
  • The Jews are proud of their circumcision but they act as the uncircumcised. The uncircumcised Gentiles who keep the law are as the circumcised.
  • When we've been circumcised in our hearts, removing the hardness, we're a Jew inwardly; by the Spirit, not the letter.
  • These don't receive their praise from men but from God.
Every person, Jew or Gentile, must be circumcised in heart... removing the hardness of sin and wickedness - being softened and opened up to God's joy and salvation.

Don't Be Naked! - Loins Girt with Truth

The Whole Armor of God This Week: Loins Girt with Truth Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What are the Loins Girt about with Truth for? The loins help you to stand. They give you support to stand. They help you to get up when you've fallen. John 8:31-32 The truth makes you free and you'll know His disciples because they continue in His Word. John 14:6 Jesus is the  way, the  truth, and the  life. He is NOT a  way, a  truth, or a  life. Hebrews 13:8-9 The truth of Jesus does not change. Don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines. The truth is being trodden down in our day and age. He did not leave us blind in the Word.  How much are we putting our trust in the Lord? We must put on the truth so we're not ca...

The 10 Most Overlooked People in Your Church

Photo credit: https://careynieuwhof.com/8-reasons-most-churches-never-break-the-200-attendance-mark/ This post is in response to the original article by Anne Peterson. Her post on crosswalk.com can be found here: http://www.crosswalk.com/slideshows/the-10-most-overlooked-people-in-your-church.html?p=2 1. Single People It’s hard to believe that most churches overlook this group of people. In my opinion, this is probably the most regarded group. With churches forming so many “ group” activities, this ranks highest with singles groups, youth groups, teen groups, bible study groups, etc.  The author quotes no scripture here for biblical reference for the single to be administered.   1 Cor. 7:24-40 - these verses deals with both the single unmarried as well as the divorced and single. Paul gives teaching how a man and woman who are born again should desire God first, then marriage, if at all. 2. People With Illnesses If you are not part of an asse...

Cleansing the Leper

Sunday, January 8, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert Matthew 8:1-4 (also in Mark 1:40-44 and Luke 5:12-14)  -  Why did Jesus, being the way, the truth, and the life, tell the cleansed leper to go back to the priest according to the law in which Jesus was here to fulfill? Leviticus 13:1-8, 32-34, 43-46  -  According to the law, when a man had leprosy he had to go before the priest who would check on him every seven days to see whether he was clean or unclean according to the signs of the disease. Leviticus 14:1-11  -  If the priest found the man was clean from his leprosy, a sacrifice was to be made. A bird was to be killed in an earthen vessel over running water.  Jesus wanted the man to show the priest what He had done for the leper. The priest was supposed to come the the leper and pronounce him clean but instead the man went to the priest to show that he was clean, not only physically but also spiritually. Jesus was the earthen vessel... G...
