Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus: Anger & Forgiveness

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
This Week: Anger & Forgiveness

Sunday, December 23, 2012
Led by Eric Gintert

Righteous Anger

Mark 3:1-5

  • Jesus looked on the religious accusers with anger for their hardness of heart. He was angry because they were sinning against God.
  • We too should be angry when we see someone doing something ungodly. We should have godly anger. Instead, we take our anger, which is and emotion, and turn it into action that causes us to sin.
  • Jesus took his anger and turned to heal a man. He didn't lash out by disregarding those around Him. In his anger he did righteousness.

Mark 11:15-17
  • Jesus was angry, not because of broken tradition... He was angry because the religious were defiling His Father's house.
Even though there is anger, there is still forgiveness. Even though there is forgiveness, there is still discipline.
There must be an equal balance (Proverbs 11:1). If God is love then God must hate. If God loves children, then God hates abortion.

Jesus Defends, Satan Attacks

John 2:11-15
  • Who was Jesus defending? He was protecting the glory of His Father.
"And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep [guard or protect] his commandments." 1 John 2:3
Exodus 1:8-22

  • Satan has been after children since the beginning of time.
  • Getting rid of the NRA and having more gun control is not going to stop the murder of children.
Matthew 2:1,7-8,12,16
  • A tragedy of the murder of all children 2 years and under when Jesus was born.
  • Satan is always on the prowl and he loves to attack children, the most vulnerable.

A Change of Mind

Ephesians 4:23-32
  • "Godly sorrow worketh repentance" (2 Cor 7:10), a change of mind. Renewing the spirit of the mind. Putting on a new man.
  • You can be angry in a godly manner without sinning.
  • Do not let fleshly anger dwell in you but put it away from you. Forgive others as Christ has forgiven you.
  • We must look unto Jesus who first forgave us and endured the rejection, pain and sorrow.
When we're angry and hurt, we seek everything of the world to comfort us. Instead we need to turn our eyes upon Jesus to heal us and comfort us.
Colossians 3:1-17
  • Seek the things above, not the things on earth.
  • Put away the things of the flesh that are worthy of the wrath of God. Especially since these are the things that we once walked in and He forgave us of.
  • We need to humble ourselves, have tolorance for one another, and forgive.

Forgiveness

Matthew 26:26
  • Jesus blood is shed for the forgiveness of sins
Acts 2:38
  • Are you willing to accept the forgiveness of God? Are you willing to be forgiven?
  • By faith, receive the free gift of God... forgiveness.
Luke 23:34
  • Even on the cross Jesus asked that God would forgive us. This doesn't mean that every accepts God's forgiveness or even realizes that they had a need to be forgiven.
John 3:16-18
  • Do you believe that you've been cleansed and forgiven? Do you really trust in this gift?
  • If you will not accept God's forgiveness and humble yourself, you have condemned yourself already through your unbelief.
Matthew 7:21-23
  • A group who believe that they can use the word 'forgiveness' as a "get-out-of-jail-free card".

Don't Be Naked! - Loins Girt with Truth

The Whole Armor of God This Week: Loins Girt with Truth Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What are the Loins Girt about with Truth for? The loins help you to stand. They give you support to stand. They help you to get up when you've fallen. John 8:31-32 The truth makes you free and you'll know His disciples because they continue in His Word. John 14:6 Jesus is the  way, the  truth, and the  life. He is NOT a  way, a  truth, or a  life. Hebrews 13:8-9 The truth of Jesus does not change. Don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines. The truth is being trodden down in our day and age. He did not leave us blind in the Word.  How much are we putting our trust in the Lord? We must put on the truth so we're not ca...

The 10 Most Overlooked People in Your Church

Photo credit: https://careynieuwhof.com/8-reasons-most-churches-never-break-the-200-attendance-mark/ This post is in response to the original article by Anne Peterson. Her post on crosswalk.com can be found here: http://www.crosswalk.com/slideshows/the-10-most-overlooked-people-in-your-church.html?p=2 1. Single People It’s hard to believe that most churches overlook this group of people. In my opinion, this is probably the most regarded group. With churches forming so many “ group” activities, this ranks highest with singles groups, youth groups, teen groups, bible study groups, etc.  The author quotes no scripture here for biblical reference for the single to be administered.   1 Cor. 7:24-40 - these verses deals with both the single unmarried as well as the divorced and single. Paul gives teaching how a man and woman who are born again should desire God first, then marriage, if at all. 2. People With Illnesses If you are not part of an asse...

To Know God: Examine Yourself

Sunday, February 26, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Luke 11:11-13  -  If a son were to ask his father for anything, he would give it. Do we think that our Heavenly Father will not do the same for us? Are you willing to ask the Father or are you just expecting to have get it of your own strength? John 15:16  -  Just because you ask in the Father's name doesn't mean He'll give you whatever you want. You must have a relationship with God and ask according to His will. See Jesus' prayer in Luke 22:39-46 Romans 12:1-3  -  We are to prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. We shouldn't think higher of ourselves but rather renew our minds. When we lean on our own understanding we are thinking higher of ourselves then we ought. 2 Corinthians 13:5  -  We need to examine ourselves (not others) to see if we're in the faith (not good works). In our relationship with God, do we constantly think of the Lord? Luke 17:3-4  ...
