The Holy Spirit

Sunday, February 2, 2013
Led by Joel Fields

Genesis: 1:1-2
  • The spirit moved upon the face of the waters... the first act of Creation.

    Genesis 2:7
    • God breathed into man the breath of life... the spirit
    • Without the breath, man was just dust.
    • There's no power or life until God brings the spirit.

    Ezekiel 7:1-10
    • The spirit took Ezekiel to a valley (a very low place), not the mountain top.
    • The bones in the valley were dry. Symbolically, dead with no hope of life in them... complete hopelessness.
    • God does the greatest works in an atmosphere of death and hopelessness, death have hold on God.
      • In the resurrection of His Son... death in the flesh and made alive in the spirit.
    • The spiritually dead don't have ears to hear, unless it is God who speaks.
    • God opens the graves and brings the dead back to life so that all will know that He is the Lord.
"Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10

Don't Be Naked! - Loins Girt with Truth

The Whole Armor of God This Week: Loins Girt with Truth Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What are the Loins Girt about with Truth for? The loins help you to stand. They give you support to stand. They help you to get up when you've fallen. John 8:31-32 The truth makes you free and you'll know His disciples because they continue in His Word. John 14:6 Jesus is the  way, the  truth, and the  life. He is NOT a  way, a  truth, or a  life. Hebrews 13:8-9 The truth of Jesus does not change. Don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines. The truth is being trodden down in our day and age. He did not leave us blind in the Word.  How much are we putting our trust in the Lord? We must put on the truth so we're not ca...

The 10 Most Overlooked People in Your Church

Photo credit: https://careynieuwhof.com/8-reasons-most-churches-never-break-the-200-attendance-mark/ This post is in response to the original article by Anne Peterson. Her post on crosswalk.com can be found here: http://www.crosswalk.com/slideshows/the-10-most-overlooked-people-in-your-church.html?p=2 1. Single People It’s hard to believe that most churches overlook this group of people. In my opinion, this is probably the most regarded group. With churches forming so many “ group” activities, this ranks highest with singles groups, youth groups, teen groups, bible study groups, etc.  The author quotes no scripture here for biblical reference for the single to be administered.   1 Cor. 7:24-40 - these verses deals with both the single unmarried as well as the divorced and single. Paul gives teaching how a man and woman who are born again should desire God first, then marriage, if at all. 2. People With Illnesses If you are not part of an asse...

    To Know God: Examine Yourself

Sunday, February 26, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Luke 11:11-13  -  If a son were to ask his father for anything, he would give it. Do we think that our Heavenly Father will not do the same for us? Are you willing to ask the Father or are you just expecting to have get it of your own strength? John 15:16  -  Just because you ask in the Father's name doesn't mean He'll give you whatever you want. You must have a relationship with God and ask according to His will. See Jesus' prayer in Luke 22:39-46 Romans 12:1-3  -  We are to prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. We shouldn't think higher of ourselves but rather renew our minds. When we lean on our own understanding we are thinking higher of ourselves then we ought. 2 Corinthians 13:5  -  We need to examine ourselves (not others) to see if we're in the faith (not good works). In our relationship with God, do we constantly think of the Lord? Luke 17:3-4  ...
