Is Easter in the Bible?

Sunday, March 31, 2013

Hosea 4:6
The reason we argue and fight over things is because we have a lack of knowledge.

"But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen." 2 Peter 3:18

When you love someone, you'll defend them at any cost. Just as Peter loved Jesus so much that he wanted to defend him when they came to capture Him in the garden (John 18).

The word "Easter" is only found in the King James Version and the Third Millennium Bible. All of the other versions say either "Passover" or "Pesca".

Acts 12:1-4
"Then were the days of unleavened bread." It pleased the Jews (the unbelieving Jews) the Herod killed James, so he (Herod) sought to kill Peter. James and Peter were both Jews.

Strong's Concordance Definition:
Easter (Greek) #3957 = of Chaldee origin (compare to Hebrew #6453); the Passover (the meal, the day, the festival or the special sacrifices connected with it:--Easter, Passover.

Easter (Hebrew) #6453 = a pretermission, that is, exemption; used only technically of the Jewish Passover (the festival or the victim):--passover (offering).

Exodus 12:1-28
These are descriptive rules for the Passover.
The Passover is a memorial and feast unto the Lord throughout the generations.
People don't ask "What mean ye by this service" anymore.
The Passover is symbolic of what was to happen in the future with Jesus and is now celebrated with a whole different meaning by the true believing. It was a foreshadow of Jesus.

Passover Symbolism
Egypt was the enemy of the children of Israel... trying to choke out and kill the children of Israel.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

Must kill an unblemished lamb for the sacrifice.
"Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:" 1 Peter 1:18-19

The bread was to be unleavened. No additives to puff it up
"And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." Matthew 26:27-29

The blood of the lamb on the doorpost was for protection.
"Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate." Hebrews 13:12

Protected and freed from Egypt.
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17

Luke 22:14-20
Jesus commanded that the passover be kept in remembrance of Him.
We should daily be eating and drinking the word of God in remembrance of Jesus.

We're supposed to love God with out heart, mind, soul, and strength but we bring other gods and idols instead. We then justify it by saying that it makes the children happy.

Easter wasn't something celebrating the Old Testament passover, it was a new tradition of the Jews.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26
Do the passover in remembrance of Jesus because it shows His death.

1941 Webster Dictionary Definition
Easter = Ostara, a goddess of light or spring, in honor of whom a festival was celebrated in April, in honor of whom a festival was celebrated in April, whence this month was called "eastermonath" connected with east. A moveable festival of the Christian church observed in March or April in commemoration of our Savior's resurrection. Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon that falls on or next after the vernal equinox (March 21 in Gregorian calendar ); if the full moon happens on Sunday, Easter is celebrated one week later.

The Chaldeans (from the Strong's definition of Easter) are the Babylonians who took God's people captive and persecuted them because they wouldn't serve the Babylonian false gods (like Ostara the goddess of light or spring).

Colossians 2:16-17
If you decided to celebrate the Resurrection everyday of the year or just one day of the year, don't let any one judge you. As long as it it unto the Lord.

Although when we see a brother eating fish on Friday or chasing a bunny and colored eggs, if we love them, we'll want to reason the scriptures with them.

Romans 14:1-6
Receive those who are weak in the faith but not with disputing and arguing. Reason the scriptures, don't argue the scriptures. This doesn't mean compromise! As long as they are doing what they are doing unto the Lord, do pick a fight.

"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints." Jude 3

Don't Be Naked! - Loins Girt with Truth

The Whole Armor of God This Week: Loins Girt with Truth Click image to enlarge. Sunday, October 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Ephesians 6:10-18 The Whole Armor of God is meant to protect us, that we may be able to stand against the powers and principalities that come against us. What are the Loins Girt about with Truth for? The loins help you to stand. They give you support to stand. They help you to get up when you've fallen. John 8:31-32 The truth makes you free and you'll know His disciples because they continue in His Word. John 14:6 Jesus is the  way, the  truth, and the  life. He is NOT a  way, a  truth, or a  life. Hebrews 13:8-9 The truth of Jesus does not change. Don't be carried away with diverse and strange doctrines. The truth is being trodden down in our day and age. He did not leave us blind in the Word.  How much are we putting our trust in the Lord? We must put on the truth so we're not ca...

Freaking out in Times of Peace

Sunday, June 24, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Encouragement from the Lord that He is our rock and fortress, He is our peace in the storm... so stop FREAKING OUT! :-) Psalm 3:1-8 The enemy is not necessarily people coming against him, but powers and principalities (spiritual warfare). The battle is often in the mind with doubt, depression, etc. This is why we are commanded not to be fearful of the one who destroys the body, but the one who destroys the soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28) David knew that God was his shield and strong tower, his protector. Matthew 8:23-27 In the midst of the storm, Jesus was sleeping in the bottom of the boat. Even when everyone else was freaking out, Jesus was at peace. Peace was right their in the ship with them, and they were freaking out! Jesus rebuked them saying, "Why are ye fearful, o ye of little faith?" Prayer Requests Fields Family  -  house to rent Joel F. mom & dad  -  mom going through 4 surgery...

Is There Oil in Your Lamp?

Sunday, March 14, 2012 Led by Eric Gintert Matthew 25:1-13 The lamp represents your heart. The oil represents the Holy Spirit. When the virgins heard the announcement that the bridegroom was come, they were excited. Unfortunately only five of them were prepared. For the five foolish virgins, their fire went out when nothing exciting was happening. Then, when the excitement came, they didn't have enough oil to get the fire started again.  The five wise virgins knew that they couldn't give the oil (Holy Spirit) to the other women. You can live your life however you want, like the foolish virgins did, and expect to get right with God at the end of your life after you've done everything you wanted first. It's too late at that point because the door was shut. Matthew 24:36-39 The last days will be like it was in the days of Noah. Evil imaginations in the heart of man was (and now is) rampant on earth. Genesis 7:1,16 God called Noah and his family int...
