The Lord is Thy Keeper

Sunday, February 20, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert Many times, when studying the Scriptures, you'll find that the meaning of certain words was different in the time they were written than they are now. The word "keep" when it was written in the original language means to guard or preserve. In this study we looked at the different places with the word keep to get a greater understanding of the scriptures. 1 John 2:3-5  -  if you truly love God you want to stand up to defend him just as Peter did when the soldiers came to garden to take Jesus; "keep his commandments" means that you want to guard and protect His word. Deuteronomy 7:8-9  -  God keeps (preserves) the oaths and covanents to those that love Him and keep (gaurd/preserve) His commandments Proverbs 2:8  -  He keeps the paths of judgment (chastening or condemnation) and preserves the way of His saints Psalm 121  -  the Lord is our guard and He preserves us forevermore (you won't ever lose y...

God Knows Those Who Are His

Sunday, February 13, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" 2 Corinthians 13:5 Do you have complete assurance of your salvation? Are you afraid that you might have "lost your salvation"? In the book of 1 John, John tells us how we may know if we have eternal life. It is written for the believer that he may have assurance and for the unbeliever, who thinks he is saved, that he may know according to his fruits if he really is. Please make sure that you go back and read the entire book of 1 John as there are many more signs of a true believer that we did not discuss. 2 Timothy 2:15-19  -   "rightly dividing the word of truth" means that you can wrongly divide the word of truth; if you study the word then God will reveal the truth; many will have an interpretation but there is only one truth; some will profane ...

A Prayer For America

Sunday, February 6, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert This is "Super Bowl Sunday". Some could reasonably say that today is a "religious holiday". People will travel to great distances to get to a football stadium but have no desire to get in the fellowship of believers. Some will paint their bodies and wear their "lucky" clothing instead of put on the sackcloth and ashes of humility before God. Our country has left it's "First Love", Jesus. Ezra 1:1-4  -  God laid it upon king Cyrus's heart to command His people to build a house for the Lord God and everyone was to help whether by service or by giving money Ezra 3:10-13  -  the ancient men wept when they had seen the foundation laid for the new house of God *** Today you will hear a great roar in a football stadium but it won't be like the roar that was heard when the foundation of the house of God was laid because the roar won't be for God. *** Ezra 6:16-22  -  the people made dedica...
