Sunday, August 28, 2011 Led by Eric Gintert To be humble means to bow down from your own righteousness and to weaken yourself. Philippians 2:1-16 - Jesus humbled himself in that He became obedient unto death. His objective was not to draw attention to Himself. Jesus didn't come to be ministered unto but to minister to others (Matthew 20:28). God humbled Himself in that he became a man and died for our sins.
Humbling yourself is saying, "Thy will be done and not my own" like Jesus did.
1 Peter 5:1-9 - One is not an elder because he is physically older... it has to do with spiritual age in Christ. Sometimes an older Christian who is a babe in Christ has to humble himself to be taught by a younger person who has known the Lord longer (an elder in Christ). The younger also has to humble themselves by asking for help from the elders.
